Finally acquired the Eve CD via ebay.

Can play the hidden track of Bothered in my vehicle using forward and reverse. Probably listened to it a good 10 times in a row.

Would love to load that version of Bothered into my iPod but I don't seem to have any luck in iTunes with importing that track. Any technical suggestions as to how I might accomplish this?

Thanks, Mike

Congratulations! Yeah, I've done that. smile.gif

If you play or fast forward through the silence after Falling (Death of a Tree), you should also be able to play Bothered on your iPod. Or if that bothers you (heh) as much as it did me, you can separate the combined audio track into two like this:

1. Import the Eve CD into iTunes as mp3 files.

2. Load the last audio track "Falling (Death of a Tree)" from your iTunes library into an mp3 editor (if you don't have one, you can download mp3DirectCut from here for free -- make sure you download from one of the links near the bottom of the page). The file should be under \iTunes Music\Over the Rhine\Eve\ .

3. Split the track into three parts: the Falling part, the silence, and the Bothered part. Save them into their own folder outside your iTunes library, and delete the file of silence.

4. Delete the "Falling (Death of a Tree)" and "[Data Track]" tracks from your iTunes Library.

5. Add the folder with the two split mp3 files to iTunes ("Add Folder to Library...").

6. Select both the 2 added files in iTunes (they'll be easy to find if you sort the library by Date Added). Right click and select "Get Info".

7. Type "Over the Rhine" for Artist, "Eve" for Album and put 1 of 1 for the "Disc Number" fields. Click the OK button.

8. Right click on the first file, select "Get Info", type in "Falling (Death of a Tree)" in the Name field and put 11 of 12 in the Track Number fields.

9. Right click on the second file, select "Get Info", type in "Bothered" in the Name field and put 12 of 12 in the Track Number fields.

Nothing to it! wink.gif

You can just import it into iTunes directly too. Just adjust the start and end times on that track to suit the song, and there you go. One step, and you have the song in.

Cool, I never noticed the tracks have time adjustments in iTunes!

That is a whole lot easier, just make sure you import the track twice (so you don't lose Falling during playback) and rename one of them.

Another useful thing in iTunes is to combine when you bring tracks in!!! If it makes sense.

Let's say you really really want to hear "Cast Me Away" and "And Can It Be" together, even when randomly shuffling through your favorite OTR mix. Or say you would like "Golden Slumbers", "Carry That Weight", and "The End" always together. Just combine them when you import!

Got it figured out so Bothered now plays for me on my iPod as track 12 for Eve. Now I just need to come up with the album art file for Eve since iTunes doesn't have it available when I click on "Get Album Artwork."

Thanks Keith and Bruce for the assistance. A combination of your suggestions provided me with a workable solution.

Go to the amazon music link for Eve:
http://www.amazon.com/Eve-Over-Rhine/dp/B000008N6O

Drag the art from that into iTunes for Eve.

Done!

if you want something bigger I can scan the album art when I get home.
