Hey all,
Some of you know that about two years ago Karen and I were on our way back to Michigan from the Taft/St. Elizabeth's show in December and I had this "epiphany/moment of utter madness" and set the goal of "doing this thing" (music). There's a whole thread about it somewhere ("humble", I know).

REVIEW: Arlington Station was born in November '07 out of my solo efforts in the southeastern Michigan area. A couple months ago we added a completely "sick" fiddle player. He's really turned up the heat in our little group. We're playing out like crazy and I'm still (fortunately) able to keep the new material coming at a decent rate.

UPDATE: We have been asked to be featured on a local college radio show for an hour of live performance and interviews. This is REALLY COOL for a number of reasons, one of which is that we don't have ANY recorded material. This show will be recorded, streamed, podcast, etc. When we get done, we should have a great CD of material to share with the world. Nothing like getting studio time cheap! With all the pressures of "one take or die"! LOL...

THANK YOU!!! There are a bunch of you Apples that have been supportive of this "dream/insanity". We're still just chugging along in the coffee shops, but people are coming to listen. And they're starting to take notice.

Most of all, thank you Karin and Linford for being a part of the motivation to try... Your music is amazing, but you are even more amazing as people. I hope someday you are able to realize how influential you both are to the world around you (if'n y'all don't already). I still remember the way Linford introduced "I Don't Want To Waste Your Time" at St. Elizabeth's that year. Thanks for those inspiring words!

Much Apple Love & Respect,
John

Hey, thanks Kent and KJ. It went really well (aside from forgetting my capo and having to ask Karen to run out to a local music shop 15 minutes before going live... lesson learned!). We did an hour live and got in about 10 songs and some discussion/interview.

The results are posted on our myspace. I put four of the originals that we did up there the other day. Unfortunately, we aren't able to post any covers on the site (copyright infringement stuff). Our singer, Lisa, has an amazing voice but I've only got one original for her to sing so far and it wasn't ready on short notice for the radio appearance. Hoping to continue writing more songs with her ability in mind!

Thanks for the kind comments you two! And, again, thanks to K & L for the inspiration to try.
J

***edit: Hey, I know a lot of you don't accept myspace friends requests from bands, but give our page a look see if you're so inclined. Some have already "befriended" the band, but it would be cool to extend the reach of the site. We're hoping to start to travel short distances soon and Ohio wouldn't be far to go.

And Bill, how to y'all keep the OTR myspace looking so darned spiffy? Would like some pointers if you have the time. A booking agent contacted us recently (we haven't signed with anyone as yet) and mentioned the importance of myspace in the music biz. Seems like something we should work on. Who knew???

Thanks again,
J

john, it's a lot of work and a little (just basic) html. i would also suggest getting on iLike & facebook. both have lots of cool features, benefits and members. we got over 8k fans signed up in the first 3 months on iLike and currently have close to 1,500 on facebook. give 'em a look, it's worth your time and effort.

and congrats and best of luck on this venture. hope things continue to go well for ya'll.

Hey Bill, thanks for taking the time to give some much needed advice. Please forgive me if our page now looks quite a bit like OTR's. Imitation being the sincerest form of flattery and all... unsure.gif Seriously, you do a great job helping to promote the band.

I'll look into Facebook and iLike. Thanks for the tip!

And thanks for the kind words Deb! Love the photo of your family!
