there isn't a thread for the movie? really?!

michelle, have you seen it yet? kylie? zayne?
anybody?!

i went to see it last night, and even though the reviews weren't that good, i was not disappointed. it wasn't a movie so much as a 2-hour+ long television episode. and that is ok, for this at least.

not everything happened the way i would have liked, and parts were thin, but a fan's a fan. smile.gif i laughed, i cried, and i loved it!

I couldn't believe no one had spoken up either! smile.gif

My mom and sister were here last week visiting, so we all waited until then to see it.
I agree... it didn't happen the way I wanted it to... but that's ok.
I gotta say.... I loved it. I can't wait for the dvd... I know this is one I'll watch over and over!

It's funny how much older most of them look... except Charlotte... she looked beautiful.
I just can't wait to see it again.

p.s. I didn't really pay attention to the reviews, I generally don't anyway. But this is like a fan movie - so if you're not a fan... you're not gonna get it anyway.

You basically nailed it right there. I went for a matinée with The Gays® and we all adored it. I have missed the show, so it was great to feel at home, sort of. It was a little disconcerting seeing that one sex screen so freaking big on the screen, but it was just for a second. I was glad to see all the ladies and their guys made it to the movie, and I expected almost everything except Steve. I won't say more for fear of ruining it for others, but I was just like, wow, and kinda like, this is totally out of character, wow.

Can I just say, Chris Noth is getting old. He's still hot, but now he's hot in that spider-legs-for-eyebrows Jack Nicholson kind of way. Manscape, dude, manscape.

I've loved Chris since "Law & Order," and recently caught some of the early episodesand couldn't believe how boyish he looked! You're right ... he's still a hotty!!

I've seen it twice. Loved it both times. I laughed just as hard and cried in the same moments.
I rewatched the series a couple months before the movie released to get extra-psyched for it (in order, no episode skipped).
I'm also in the SatC fan base that finds the show can pretty much do no wrong. I just want to hang out w/my girls.
I loved the directions, serious and roller-coastery as they were, the movie took. Along with the laughs, it wrung me out.
And Anna, the Miranda/Steve sub-story was my favorite.
And like Kylie, I can't wait for the DVD as I just know Michael Patrick King is going to load us up with the goods.

I know guys aren't supposed to be interested in this film, but tell me ... just how nasty does Kim Catrall's character get? Cuz I might have to sneak in!

Grrrrrrroooowwwwllllll.

Well, she is not as active sexually in the movie as she was in the show.

I also did not think that Jason Lewis (Smith Jerrod) did not look good on the movie screen, at least not as good as he looked in the TV show. I agree that Kristin Davis looked great. I was never a huge fan of the show I liked it because my mom and I would watch it and laugh over some of the things and at the irony of her and I watching this sort of show. I went opening weekend as part of a girls night out it was fun, however I felt as though if you were not at least familiar with the show you would not get a lot of the inside jokes and themes of the movie.
michelle
Go with a group of girls, Fred. You'll pry like it enough.

Aside from my praise of the movie, I forget to add my only disappointment - Jennifer Hudson. I have no issues with that part and having a young recognizable face in it, but her acting was just bad. Bad enough that almost every scene with her distracted me from the movie. And as much of just my opinion that that is, the handful of friends that I've talked about the movie with felt the same way.

And Deb, I thought the same thing about Jason Lewis. For only 4 years after the show, he looked really, really aged.
kylie jo
I agree Michelle... there were a coupla scenes where she was better, but mostly she was forcing it.
On that note... one of the girls(the drunk one) she interviewed... "Your shit's brilliant."... I almost peed my pants. That was so funny.

I can't agree about Smith Jerrod... I thought he looked really hot.

I can't wait to see it again. smile.gif

Being distracted by Bab's fingernails in "The Prince of Tides" was the main reason I absolutely ABHORED that movie! I couldn't take my eyes off them whenever she was in a scene (which was almost every one, of course). Grrrrrrrrr!!! angrycat.gif

I agree that her acting was bad. I'm still puzzling out why she was even included.
