Wow - how this has grown. I started seeing OTR back in 1992, 1993 at such venues as JBs Down in Kent, Ohio - a small hole in the wall where we'd dance and groove along to the music. This was back when Ric and Brian were in the band. The song Rhapsodie was part of my WEDDING (well, the 1st husband - who turned out to NOT be who I thought he was, but we won't go into that here.) My wedding was wonderful, though!

I moved home after a divorce in 2001 and kid of lost touch with the band. I had all of the early CD's - 'Til We Have Faces, Patience, Besides, Good Dog Bad Dog, Darkest Night of the Year, Eve, etc. I stopped at Films For Radio.

A funny thing happened about 6 weeks ago - I have horses (the reason for my 1st divorce - the horses stayed, he didn't) and I have an awesome farrier who is from the Wooster area. He used to be Amish, but liked electricity and is now Mennonite - but we were chatting about music while he was trimming my mare and he said, "I like this local band; married couple, kind of folkish music...." I looked at him and said - "NO WAY - Over the Rhine?" He looks at me like I have 2 heads - "Yeah, you know them?" He then proceeds to pull out all of of HIS CD's from his truck: Films for Radio, Ohio, Amateur Shortwave Radio, etc. HE has all of the ones I don't and vice versa! So we trade for awhile....and I get on here and BUY all of the ones I do not have, so my collection is complete again. AND, I went to Pittsburgh this past Sunday to see them open for Ani DiFranco. I am getting caught up!

Anyway, my life is back to normal; remarried, one toddler, house, horses, small self-sustaining business....life is good.

I am getting used to the band without Ric, which will make all of you laugh since he has been gone for so long, but since I played those CDs over and over and over....that sound is stuck in the brain. I don't like one over the other, but they are different - and live, they really rocked together. I need to see them with the drummer, he was not at Ani DiFranco.

Anyway, glad to find this forum and website - now I can stay up to date more easily!

Welcome, and nice to meet you. smile.gif Can't wait for my mate to log back on tomorrow (we've been out of town since Wednesday, when *we* saw the band open for Ani in Columbus, OH), since you're from around his time and stomping grounds (he moved to Cincy 7 months ago, first time living out of the Kent area other than a brief stint at Bowling Green). But I'll let him determine the degrees of separation. smile.gif

And ooooooooooo.....horses.......
