2008 Update
Hello everyone!
<snip>
So I've formed a new band here in Cincinnati. The first quartet I've put together since early 2005. We will be playing our first show at the Northside Tavern on March 1 starting at 10 pm with Ben Sollee opening the night. The cost is free, the place is small and cozy and dark and they have great beer and a great vibe. Round up your friends and come and see us. We'll be playing all new songs for an awfully long time.

Been planning on being at this one since the day it was announced

Have to say it's not my favorite place to record, though. I think a full-band situation will come off better than a solo act, at least from a recording standpoint, so hopefully it will come out well.

Kim was a rockin' mama tonight. The joint was so packed & I was in a less-than-perfect...much less ...spot for sound quality, although the overall sound I heard I liked....alot including one very bluesy number toward the end. Good band...nice lead guitar sound on a Gretch. A little country (mostly on lead guitar) The crowd loved it. I think I did, too, but just couldn't hear vocals clearly at all (and these were, with the exception of Lamb, all brand new, unheard KT Toones...to the point that (and I don't think this was the chorus to one of the last songs, but) it sounded like...in 3-part harmony
"I can't pee....I can't pee..."....or, maybe it was...
Shawn was recording so I hope it comes out better than what I was hearing....and now I'll defer to Shawn & Kylie for a complete review of the Kim Taylor Dancer.

You know, I was really looking forward to this...
Kim Taylor was great, and new band sounds pretty awesome. It's definitely a different sound for her... I can't wait to hear the recording... mostly b/c we had a huuuuuge distraction and it was so hard to pay attention to the music. Let me explain.
My friend and I ran into ShawnF and he'd set up in the very front, said there was some room up there. Seeing how packed(like sardines) that place was...we thought it was the best option. Until about the 2nd or 3rd KimSong. Geeeez. This guy who'd been sitting on the floor stands up in his little 1 ft by 1 ft area and starts "dancing". Most.limber.guy.ever. This dude was bent, backward over Shawn's recording equipment rite in front of us! Shawn described it as 'interpretive dance in a straight jacket'... simply b/c he had no room to move his arms. Lol.
We decided he was probably on ecstacy.
Great show... she looked hot, and the band sounded really good. I can't wait to hear more from them. (without the distraction)
Oh! I can't believe I forgot.
I never thought I'd get to hear this, it's one of my favourite things Kim does... she did Chocolate Jesus with Ben Sollee!! So good.
