who's comin'?

stiv and i traded PM's today and talked about maybe doing dinner. i'm open, who's in?

here are a few places right around the center, take a look if you are interested.

Bluegrass Brewing Company - very, very good microbrew.

The Bristol - casual, great food, reasonable to moderately upscale. iheartthebristol.

Jarfi's - in KY center, excellent, but a bit upscale & pricy-er.

or, if it looks like it's gonna be nice, we could possibly do a "bring your own meat" thing @ my house.

chime in...

'Yote and I will be there, and being a Saturday and having to check into the hotel anyway, we'll be in Louisville in plenty of time to meet up for dinner anywhere you guys say. biggrin.gif

We're in. It will be Amanda, myself, and two others Pam S. and her guest. (New fans)

I prefer either the first or second, nothing to pricey.

Yeah, for a change I'm invading your stomping grounds.

So time for an OTR show.
stivmc
Did we decide where and when?

bivester
ok, according to the ky center's website, show starts @ 8:00PM. so how 'bout "the bristol" (614 w. main st, corner of 6th & main) @ 6:00ish for anyone interested?

it is only a block away from the theatre, you can park in the ky center's lot (or elsewhere in the area) and easily walk to both places. the ky center is @ 501 w. main, between 5th & 6th (fyi, main is one way, going west).

directions to the ky center/bomhard theatre...
from lexington: FROM I-64 EAST: Take the Ninth Street exit. At the bottom of the ramp, turn left onto Market Street (Market is one way going east). Follow Market Street to Fifth Street, and turn left on Fifth. Fifth will end at Main Street. Turn left onto Main Street. The Kentucky Center is located between Fifth and Sixth streets on Main. The parking garage entrance is located behind the Center on Sixth Street (turn right on Sixth from Main).

from cinti: FROM I-71 SOUTH- Follow I-71 South until you reach I-64 West. Take I-64 West to the Third Street River Road exit. This is a two lane exit ramp. Stay in the left lane. Go straight through the intersection at the bottom of the exit ramp and proceed straight to Third Street. At the next intersection (Main and Third) turn right onto Main. Once on Main, you will see the Center on the right hand side of the road between Fifth and Sixth streets. The parking garage entrances are located on Sixth Street behind the Center.

from indy: FROM I-65 SOUTH- Take I-65 to the Jefferson Street exit. Follow Jefferson Street until you reach Fifth Street, then turn right. Follow Fifth Street until it ends at Main Street and turn left. The Kentucky Center is located between Fifth and Sixth streets Main Street (on the right). Parking is directly behind the Center on Sixth Street.

from nashville: FROM I-65 NORTH- Take I-65 North to Muhammad Ali Blvd. Go to Fifth Street and turn right (this is the only way to turn). Follow Fifth to Main and turn left. The Kentucky Center is located between Fifth and Sixth streets on Main Street.

All the yucky stuff looks to be Cincinnati and north.
Extremely good time to skip town and head south, methinks! smile.gif

We'll see you guys there (and thanks for making it easy for us out-of-towners).

over the rhine on a whim... woohoo!

Just make sure you get there in time to see Ben Solee... he's unbelievable!

I can't make it, folks, even though it's in my own backyard this time. I forget about it during all this situation with my mother, so I didn't get a ticket, and I'm pretty worn out anyway from all the running back and forth between houses to take care of her dogs and business and our business and dogs. Should be a great show though, so I wish you all much fun and happiness. And somebody drink a good hoppy beer for me, 'kay?
bivester
great show in this sold out, beautiful, acoustically sweet, 600 seat theatre within louisville's kentucky center for the performing arts. juicy had the room mixed perfectly and K&L&M&J delivered a beautiful, pretty diverse set including; many of the usual choices from TTC + "jesus in new orleans" (linford discussed that the ani tour would be their first return to NO since katrina), "cruel & pretty" smile.gif followed by, at linford's request, "cast me away" (just K&L), a beautiful "etc whatever" (again, just K&L), "suitcase" and a wailing "b.p.d."

i'll post pics and the full setlist tomorrow.

it's nice to sleep in my own bed at a reasonable hour after an OtR show. smile.gif

good to see everyone.
bivester
oh, and ben sollee rocked the fu*king joint. a-damn-mazing set. this kid is a star.

he's opening for kim next week @ northside tavern.

Totally agree with Bill's posts. It was a great show. I brought my brother-in-law, who hadn't been to an OtR concert in about four years. I think he really enjoyed it as well.

Way to get 'em all swayin' during "Hush Now" Karin!

I thought the set was wonderful, and as usual, Juicy made it sound awesome in the Bomhard. I was impressed with how casual everyone seemed considering the venue is more "proper." While it wasn't as relaxed as the CD release at Moonlight Gardens (my last show to see them,) I still thought it was nice to see crowd interaction tonight. It was nice to get a sense of who the "apples" were during "Don't Wait for Tom"... I know a couple people (including my brother-in-law) were a bit startled when I cupped my hands and yelled, "HEY TOM!"

It was a great way to celebrate my birthday a couple days early.

And, as Bill noted, it's nice to head to bed at a decent hour. Which is where I'm headed now.

Great show, Great Venue, Great People! We had a great time! Good night!

and oh god...how could i have forgotten to mention...the stunning opener, "motherless child," here's hoping this one stays on the setlist for a while. beautiful.
kylie jo
wow.
i'm so glad we decided to go. what a killer show.
i've been wanting to see Ben Sollee for a while... he is so talented. i bought his cd and i love it already.
Cast Me Away and Etc. Whatever was the highlite for me. Wow.
The last month has been pretty crazy, and it was so nice to sit and reflect and fall in love, and be reeled back into what it's really about.

good things. great nite. thanks OtR.

I'm so jealous. My mother in law called us at the last minute and said she could babysit if we wanted to go to this show. It was so last minute, I just decided not to stress over it and stay home. And I've been wanting to hear Karin do Motherless child since like, forever.

Was Cast Me Away the regular or extended lyrics?

Amen to that! At least 'til the end of April.

and as usual, more are here.

Fantastic shots (as always) Bill! I *totally* forgot to break out my camera at the Bristol to get a couple of "apple" shots...sorry guys.

I agree, it was a terrific show. I particularly enjoyed the banter between K&L regarding the great skunk hunt. LOL And I think my new favorite Linford line ever- "I gave up church for Lent". biggrin.gif
Awesome!

As I told 'Yote on the way to Louisville...it had been too long between OTR shows. I'd been missing it. They made the drive more than worthwhile.

Agreed. The skunk story was great, and the "Lent" banter was just as funny.

Linford gave up church for Lent. Karin gave up hard liquor (at the wrong time.) Mickey didn't give up anything!

Too great.

Awesome shots Bill!

Either that or Karin's "Actually, you grabbed my gun." During the skunk story.
