Yep, I'm all over this. Will be nice to finally see her with a real band...seen her twice (opening for Aimee Mann in '05 and headlining in '06) but both were acoustic shows that were good, but didn't really do the Back To Me tunes justice. Looking forward to this.

Saw Kathleen at the Metro in Chicago last night. Pretty balanced setlist, not much from Failer (which is a bit too low-key for my tastes anyway) besides "6 O'Clock News" and "Mercury," but hit all the high points of Back To Me and Asking For Flowers in a solid 90 minute set. I'd seen her twice acoustically, but it was great to finally see her with her band, as nature intended.

There was one fairly drunk creepy guy in the front, who towards the end of the set, got a little too vocal and said something that made for an interesting exchange between the dude, Kathleen and Colin (her husband/guitarist)...then during "Back To Me" after Colin did a fairly intense yet sloppy Neil Young-esque guitar solo Kathleen said "That's guitar for 'get the **** away from her."

Great show...if you have the chance to see her, do it, especially since tickets probably won't be over $20. (she's also selling vinyl copies of Asking For Flowers at her merch table, which is geeky analog happiness )

i love "asking for flowers" but this stuff plays out live even better. and what a band she has.

Agreed...i'd love for her to do a live record of her more up-tempo tunes one day, since they kick the crap out of the studio versions.

i finally get to see her 2 weeks from tonight up here.

after the first couple of songs, she said "i love playing louisville, this is my beverage mecca" then she bent over, picked up her glass of bourbon and held it up to the audience and said "i'm no diva, but it's great that you don't have to explain what 'bourbon is' in your rider when you play here" to huge applause. then she asked "which way is woodford county?" someone pointed towards the back of the stage and she turned around, took a sip, bowed and blew a kiss in that direction.


from reading on her message board, i believe lasat night was the first time she played "oh canada."













and this was just "too fun" not to use...

sue and i got to see kathleen play one kick ass, sold out show friday night in minneapolis. she flippin' rocked.
the show was at the varsity theater in dinkytown (a village area near the u of minnesota).
