Is there really not a topic for this yet? Mr. Netflix delivered this gem over the weekend and I was quite impressed. It was one of those films I felt I should watch and had heard was good, but wasn't too excited about; man was I wrong. It started a little slow for me, but when it took off I was blown away. Christian Bale and Russell Crowe are perfect for their roles (according to IMDB, Tom Cruise was originally supposed to play Crowe's character). I don't want to say too much about it for folks that haven't seen it, but it's definately worth your time!

Watched this one yesterday and it is one of my favorite movies I have seen in quite some time, this ranks up there with "Once" as movies that I had heard lots of hype about and was ready to be disappointed, but walked away thoroughly enjoying.

I liked it, a lot. Christian Bale can do no wrong for me, really. Great flick.

(Coincidentally, I watched Rescue Dawn tonight... Bale again. Hard film. Not fun. Not even great. But very well acted, and sad.)

I wasn't excited about seeing this, but I did want to see it. It was pretty low down on my Netflix queue, figured I'd get to it eventually. Lucky for me my brother rented it and loaned it to me. I was on my Netflix account right before this removing it from my list, and giving this ridiculously awesome movie 5 stars. IN-Credible! I had seen a review snippet somewhere about this saying something like "...the best western since Unforgiven." Yeah, no shit at that.

Any Crowe/Bale comments I could add are simply obvious, so what I really want to do is give a HUGE shout-out to Ben Foster (Charlie Price). He was just brilliant. He's like a young David Morse for me right now - you see his face in movies and go "Oh, that guy! That guy's bad ass! What else has he been in??" (Well, I usually know as he's been unforgettable for me since Six Feet Under) I just hope he's in a hell of a lot more movies as 'That supporting actor guy' or all out lead. His wacked-out deal in 30 Days of Night alone is worth seeing that flick. Kudo's Ben, kudos.

I share the same opinion of Bale, Troy. And agree totally with your short, yet precise thoughts of Rescue Dawn. Steve Zahn blew me away in that too.
