I caught this a few days back--very entertaining. Quite gory, but in a stylized way. I am still amazed by how Johnny Depp has become the king of the quirky character. Who from the '80s would have imagined his transformation from Officer Tom Hanson? Anyway, a fun, odd flick.

I haven't seen it yet, but probably will. A co-worker told me it was extremely violent... stylized or not. That true?

Very much so. The girlfriend said that if she had known how violent it was, she would not have seen it despite her Johnny fixation. He is a barber and every kill is by slitting the throat and graphically shown.

This is another one on my list of "to sees." Can't wait ... as I'm such the Burton/Depp nerd.

I loved it. Sasha Baron Cohen showed up, and it was a nice surprise. I thought both Depp and Carter were fabulous in this.
If you think of the violence in Monty Python terms, it seems a bit more bearable. I thought that the song about the different offerings of meat pie was brilliant!

So, I've watched the trailer several times and see both 2 Harry Potter characters, Helena Bonam Carter & Alan Rickman, but I would swear that I caught a glimpse of the guy who played Peter Pettigrew as well? Anyone know if I'm right?

Been listening to the soundtrack for a couple of days now. Really can't wait to see the movie this weekend. Juno's also playing, so I might splurge and see both as I'll be driving an hour each way to see ST.

What to say? Drove an hour each way to see it, and it was well worth the drive! Golly, Burton and Depp have scored huge in my book yet again. It was marvelous ... gore and all. Mmmmmmmm, meat pies! Toby, I think, was my fave character. Did anyone else have the mad woman figured out? If so, when?

Speaking of all things Sweeney Todd; how about in "Jersey Girl" when the daughter does a skit of ST during her school's revue? Now, THAT was funny stuff!!

In case you haven't heard, ST won both Best Picture & Best Actor in the musical, comedy, etc. category. Here's a pretty decent article about Johnny's singing:

Saw this last night, finally. I liked it, as I always like Carter and Depp... and I found myself enjoying the film, I suppose I just didn't
love it. Then, that's probably because it was a musical, which I don't care for generally. But Sweeny was very well done, very dark, and extremely well acted (though not particularly well sung

).
Tim Burton is an interesting guy, indeed. The DVD features showed him quite a bit... he looked kinda like Sweeny Todd himself. What a match with Carter he must make together.
4 outta 5.
