The next 3 days are the first in a long time of my wishing, just a teeny bit, that I had cable...
Tin Man
I love me some Zooey D.
Starts tonight, 9/8 Central on Sci-Fi Channel. If anyone tunes in for this, I'd love to read what you think.

I've got the Tivo set to nab 'em too! I'll report back what I think of it all...
And...I just may be able to email them to you if you have a client that supports large file sizes... I've never tried it before, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Saw the first hour, tonight, and recorded the second. Mildly interesting so far, but still reserving judgement on it.
In my experience and those of my acquaintances that are hard-core SF fans, SF channel is notorious for producing things that sound good on paper, but just don't quite pan out. We'll see...

I too watched the first hour and turned it off to read a book. It was quirky and cheesy in parts, and there is no singing, so a musical, it ain't. Plus SFC needs to be HD on Comcast. I was thinking since it's a remake of TWoO, it would have been cool if they did the part in this reality in SD, and the part in the O.Z. in HD--kind of as a throwback to the BW/Color of the original. Oh well.

Well, I guess from the lack of responses here, people are feeling a bit underwhelmed by this mini series. I've watched the first epi, and about 10 minutes of the second. A friend of mine says he really enjoyed it, but we always disagree on TV (he loves the new DR Who, and I abhor it) so I digress.
Anyway, Zooey D has a great screen presence, however I'm just not feeling her in this series. In fact, I wish I knew the word to describe the tone/mood that I get out of the whole she-bang. In my terminology, I just call it cheaply produced, but I'm sure there's a chic movie critic word used to describe it ...

I was so disappointed by the series, Zoey Deschanel (sp?) was not nearly as good in this as she has been in nearly everything else that I've seen her in and the 'cute' twists on names in the original book / movie wore thin very quickly. Particular pet peeves were "the O.Z." (which just reminds me of bad early 90's rap) and especially 'the field of the pap-pay " -- although the ending was by far the worst -- did they just run out of time? Maybe if they had run the Verizon Wireless pony commercial one less time they could have finished the series. All in all, I was quite disappointed.
That being said, it was visually very beautiful and Alan Cummings was h-h-h-h-h-ot in it. I think the whole thing would have worked a lot better as a modern silent film with just the visuals, some dramatic piano playing and the occasional text placard.

I finished the series, and it gained momentum as it went along. Didn't turn out too bad!
