hey all, I just saw the movie King Of California and I could swear I heard Karin singing in the score. Once around midway through the movie and again over tbeginning of the ending credits. It sounded so much like her I can't believe it wasn't but I didn't see her mentioned in the credits and don't see anything on the site here. Anyone hear any mention of this? If it wasn't her there is someone who sounds a whole LOT like her, down to the way she carries notes. Gotta find out who it is if it wasn't her!!!

According to Amazon, that's Jodie Holland. Who, according to me, doesn't sing anywhere anywhere near as good as Karin. smile.gif But then again, I probably wouldn't kick her out of the CD changer if she was all I had. wink.gif

ya, I found it - Bivester is right, it's Jodie Holland. Yahoo has a complete song credit listing for the movie. Also a link for her Myspace site where she doens't sound much like she does singing in the movie. A bit in song 2 perhaps. You'd have to hear her in that tune over the end credits - soft, kinda countrish, unique vocal inflections with a nicely strummed acoustic. Sounds eerily like Karin.

At least it did in the moment.

Have to look into her

just for the record- it's Jolie Holland, not Jodie

she has 3 albums out, and was in the original lineup of The Be Good Tanyas.
and one of the Be Goods also has a band called Po' Girl, and they too have 3 albums out.

Sorry guys, I've been listening to Jolie since Catalpa, and I don't hear the similarity at all! She's quite good when she's channeling her jazzy voice though, I'll give you that for sure.
