'Yote and I went to the CEA Awards tonight at the Taft Theater. First of all, OTR was the show OPENER (which we found out from Juicy when we were at Canal Street Saturday night, we knew they were performing but didn't know they were opening the show). And OMG they did an incredible job! Started out with "I Don't Want to Waste Your Time", then "If A Song Could Be President", and ended the set with "Who Am I Kidding But Me", including Jake and Micky's solos! It's something when the fans go crazy at that, but their PEERS were cheering through the solos - awesome!
Just being at the show was an incredible experience.

If 'Yote wanted a good introduction to the local music scene, we couldn't have picked a better way to go about it. Got to see a good selection of local bands perform, including Wussy (who we've been trying to catch - one of the band members is an old friend of 'Yote's from the Open Mic at the Brady days).
Towards the end of the night they presented the "Best Ambassadors of the City" award - and Over The Rhine WON! Unfortunately, we had to leave before the end of the show (we both had to get to work), so I don't know if they won the other award they were up for (Album of the Year)...so if anyone knows the results, please post! I'm going to keep an eye on the news scene to find out who won myself, and I'll post it as soon as I know.
But we got to see OTR receive an award at the CEA's, AND got to hear them perform. It was fabulous!
Congratulations to Karin, Linford, Jake and Micky! We all knew you were the best - good to see the rest of Cincinnati agrees!
