Do you think we'll get one this spring (2008)?

Crossing my fingers although nothing has been mentioned (unless I missed something). Seems like the pre-order should be beginning?

Bill, what does your crystal ball tell you? wink.gif

i know nothing other than linford has said repeatedly and publically that they plan on this being an annual tradition. as far as the pre-order, i'm assuming they'll probably announce all that kind of stuff when they firm up the plans for st. e's...

from the announce list: We are planning another conversational gathering, acoustic show and Christmas party for the afternoon of Sunday, December 16 so that we can bask in the afterglow of a great year with all of you who might be interested in meeting up with us. More details on all of this soon -- stay tuned at OvertheRhine.com... You're invited.

Thanks.

Considering they sold out of the pressings from the last two years I can't imagine them not doing it.

I'd love to see the version of Ohio they're doing now on it.
First heard/saw in in Annapolis in April and just sat there feeling all "wow" when the band kicked in.

Agreed. It was one of those "why didn't they think of this in the first place?" moments. laugh.gif

They certainly have enough quality live material from this past year to cull from (and that's just from the stuff I've heard!)

As for my requests for the next Live from Nowhere CD, I'd like for them to put the version of "And Can It Be" they were doing earlier this year, the cover of REM's "The One I Love", and maybe even the "Lifelong Fling" from Cornerstone last year where Linford spoke the lyrics alongside Karin's singing.

Oh, oh, oh!!!! I second those suggestions! Especially And Can It Be, one of my overall favorite OtR songs... nice call Jeff.

I know what gets on these albums isn't a fan-poll thing, but that's not gonna stop me from mentioning songs I'd be over-the-moon to find on the next one. Especially since I know K&L read the forums, which means hey, it can't hurt...

Aside from the recent voluptuosness of of Ohio..
and the timeless, ever-lovely And Can It Be..
If an impassioned from the gut** The Trumpet Child winds up on this, oh hallelujah..

**"impassioned from the gut" meaning how Karin wails out the following lines in concert like she's singing from so far down++ that it seems like it must hurt to sing them -"a thousand days, a thousand years, nobody knows for sure how long.." & "the trumpet child will lift his glass, his bride now leaning in at last, his final aim to fill with joy, the earth that man all but destroyed.."

++whatever happened to this old, old tune possibly called So Far Down that only made it to a few live shows yeeears ago anyway?? Hmmm?

While we are making requests.....

That version of "Firefly" they played along with "Ohio" in aforementioned Annapolis show (April 2007) would also be killer. Back-to-back.

They also have been doing a nice version of "I Radio Heaven" with only piano and vocals (Annapolis, Oct 2007).

personally my hubby has been begging for "Only God Can Save Us Now, with intro" to appear on ANY sort of album since they debuted it years ago.... and I agree... what ever happened to "So Far Down" or my favorite rarity when they were free "Flown Free" mmm that'd be nice to hear live......

humm, i don't remember "so far down," there was the old gospel standard, "farther along" that popped up at a few shows, including the taft a few years ago (iirc, 2005?), could that be what you are referring to?

me, i'm just hoping that "lasso a falling star" finds it's way to us again someway, somewhere, somehow, someday...
Jeanne
Yep, I heard a song called "So Far Down" once with the original quartet at Canal Street in February 1996. The band was debuting a lot of GDBD songs. "Dead Weight" & "So Far Down" didn't make the cut, apparently, although "Dead Weight" did show up on Besides. I don't think I ever heard either of them live again after that, though.
Jeanne
And, maybe if I'm lucky, they'll have a live version of "Darling, Christmas Is Coming" from this year's Christmas tour, since I missed the big Christmas show.
Kirk
I would hope they include "Angel Band", they did it at both Taft and St E's.

Ohhhhhh.... never heard of that one.. and Jeanne answered the first half of your question.. i'd read the lyrics/a review of that early song a while back and wondered why it never made it to a b-side or rarity status.... and come on Bill.. I'm sure if you request "Lasso a Falling Star" it'll have some sway with the band ^.~
