Anyone seen this yet? I just picked up Eddie Vedder's soundrack. Very cool. I'll be very interested in seeing this one... it's really an amazing story.

Into the WildI've been enjoying the CD for about a week also. It's been getting a lot of play in the car...reminds me of the beginning of Pearl Jam's concerts when Eddie comes out by himself and plays acoustic. I thought the song (can't recall the name right now) where it's just him and the mandolin was such a treat given the musical landscape out there of what is generally available. No doubt that one won't get major airplay. Anyway, I wasn't aware the the movie was out yet. Just saw that it came to theaters on 9/21 and I'm checking showtimes. Looks like a good one. Maybe I'll go tonight or tomorrow during the day.

Saw Into the Wild Yesterday afternoon; nicely done movie I think. I hadn't read the book, but my older son had a few years ago and so I knew the story. Don't want to give the story away for those of you unfamiliar with it; however, it's basically about a young man who just graduated college and decides to do a road trip out west, destination the wild, open country of Alaska, instead of pursuing a career. There's no shtick to this movie, no gratuitous anything; Sean Penn tried to tell the truth it seems, which is what the character of this true story was so earnestly seeking in his travels.
There's a beautiful and raw energy throughout the film, and the scenery alone is reason worth seeing the film, but I particularly enjoyed the rich portrayals of the people the main character met along his journey. As an audience, we are lead to draw the conclusion that he was truly fortunate to have met so many kind, welcoming, and kind-hearted people.
The ending was inescapably haunting.
I recommend y'all go see it!

Sounds a bit like Peter Jenkins' "Walk Across America," which was VERY popular in the 70's.
