Well, my lovely wife has convinced me to get some tickets to Saturday's show in Portland*. We'll be coming up after she gets off work (5:30pm in Eugene).

any other Portland peeps going? Any good places to grab veg-friendly grub near the Doug Fir Lounge?

~fff

*- I don't mind so much, since the album is pretty good, plus it'll be good to see some familiar faces -- even if they are just K&L's faces (hey, we don't know any of you PDX peeps, yet).

Hey. I'll be there. Anyways, there's a pretty good veggie friendly restaurant about five blocks East on Burnside (I think its like on 13th or so). Anyways, its called the Old Wives Tale.

But whatever you do, don't even attempt to eat at the Doug fir restaurant. Its ok grub (though highly overpriced), and I think they have some decent vegetarian options, but considering its going to be a Saturday night, well, you'ld be lucky if you could get in. Pretty popular place.

Hey guys, I took a good gander on my way to work this morning (my bus goes right by the doug fir), and didn't see anything other than my suggestion, but I'm keeping an ear to the ground for you. Just put up a question about this on the damnportlanders livejournal community.
Anyways, here's a link to the restaurant I mentioned.

Oh, I wish I was coming down for this. I would love to see you both. Unfortunately, I won't be making it. Have fun and welcome to the beautiful PNW.

Hey, so the vegetarians I talked to said my recomendation was a really bad idea. I guess they have been lacking quality as of recent. Anyways, they did recomend another restaraunt even closer to the venue! It's called The Farm. Its like two blocks from the doug fir, lol.

so, it looks like I am not going to make it. Sorry guys. Just other life stuff happening right now.

Great show last night (my #50). Set not-unlike Seattle. "And Can it Ever Be" was great (don't know how I missed that when glancing at the Seattle setlist). "Don't Wait for Tom" also excellent (my fav of the night). "Ohio" was actually quite a good version, and I don't really prefer that song... so something was up. Linford's very walking/bouncy bass on "Orphan Girl" was cool... and he seemed to be having fun playing while standing up. smile.gif The venue (Doug Fir) is also neato. I was bummed because I missed The Album Leaf & Under Byen there in July, but it's nice to know a great venue like that is only 1.5 to 2 hours away.

Glad you had a good time. Wish I could of gone. Oh well, next time.

And yeah, I LOVE that venue myself (though the drinks are a bit pricey, compared to a few of the venues downtown). I was actually just there a week before for music fest. It always trips me out though, its like the great NW meets art deco.

Was it really sold out?
