Okay, so I've selected my song for the wedding intro. It's the Cowboy Junkies version of Let Me Call You Sweetheart. Jake gets to pick the outro, and he hasn't decided yet.

But we're building a playlist for the reception. I want to start with either Trouble, or I'm on a Roll from the new album (and end with Let's Spend the Day in Bed). Please vote for your favorite.

I've also got a lot of space in between, so feel free to throw out suggestions, OtR or otherwise.

The Junkies “Anniversary Song” is always great. My other favorite wedding reception songs include, “You’ve got a friend in me” off the Toy Story soundtrack; “Where’ve you been” by Kathy Mattea; “Brass in pocket” by The Pretenders; “Hello it’s me” by Todd Rundgren; “Follow you, follow me” by Genesis.

I've always really liked Ben Folds' "The Luckiest" and Fisher's "I Will Love You" as wedding-type songs. And there's always good old "Rhapsodie."

But for a reception, you probably want to get people up and dancing at some point, in which case your options are wide open. I'd consider including a nice chunk of Motown music, some Beatles tracks, and some '70s funk, along with more recent danceable stuff by artists like Amy Winehouse and Spoon.

I have a few suggestions for some songs that if I ever do get married and have any say in the matter-will be on my playlist for wedding music---all of which are a bit off the beaten musical path---

This first one--I would just have playing at some point---either before the nuptials or later at the reception--- I would play a version of Nancy Griffin's "Gulf Coast Highway" done by an all female group called Evangeline---this version is a duet with the lead singer of the group and Jimmy Buffet----as the appointed time to conduct the ceremony was to take place--I would first play a song done by Lyle Lovett from the second disc of "Step Inside This House" titled "If I Needed You"--all of the songs on that two disc set were done by people Lyle considered friends and musical mentors and as I recall--- this song was a Townes Van Zandt song--so ya can't go wrong there--the song is a male profession of undying love for his lady--its a short song---just over three minutes in length.

As a follow up to that song and the prelude to the vows I would play "This Is Love" by Mary Chapin Carpenter from her album, "Stones in the Road"

The song has lines that almost echo some in the Lyle song and whle it is a triffle long at almost seven minutes---it builds to a nice finish--when you think ithe song is over--there is a a short instrumental "outro" that when completed--a live musican playing a piano could start by playing a few notes of this section before breaking into "Here Comes the Bride"--

I guarantee you--there would not be a dry eye in the house and the two songs as a set piece would be a good send off for a marriage---

I'd probably have to play "North Dakota" by Lyle at some point at welll---another sweet and beautiful love song from Lyle--maybe that's how he won Julia Roberts' heart-at least for a time!!!! Later during the partying part- of the day or night-- I'd sing a Karaoke version of Lyle's "She's No Lady" just for fun!!!!

I'm On a Roll.... I freaking LOVE that song. The first time I heard it I thought it should be on some sountrack. It'd be great to have it start off the soundtrack of your lives together Anna.

I suppose it's a bit cliched after Love Actually, but what about the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows"? IMO, still the most beautiful pop song ever written.

For all you Beatles fans: There will be plenty of that, and I've placed my vote for Real Love (from the anthology) as the outro song for the wedding itself. I just love that song. (Regina Spektor's version was not so good, btw, for those fo you who recall that post)

By the way, you can listen to the intro song for the wedding here. Just click the arrow next to Let Me Call you Sweetheart to listen. The wedding party will walk out during the a cappella verse, and I'll walk on the second verse. Or that's how it's supposed to work, anyway.

So what was the final playlist?

You know, I have no idea. I had planned on having my playlist, which was about an hour and a half long, but I had also asked his sister to make a playlist for after that, and hers was 3 hours long. At the last minute some friends of mine who are practically famous locally for hosting karaoke at a certain bar offered to take our karaoke machine PA system and host karaoke, so I had my sister-in-law put I'm on a Roll at the top of hers and we went with it instead, and then did karaoke, which was a ton of fun. The kids loved it a lot. I even sang Coal Miner's Daughter and had a blast, even if I am still losing my voice over it.
