It's gonna be fun! Glad you're going to be able to attend!

a nice sunday, indeed.

we're (the boyfriend and me) are gonna listen with a bottle of wine we got from a vineyard in kentucky.

so here's to some good wine, some good tunes, and a nice evening.

thanks to everyone involved. very cool.

I've mentioned it to several people and I have recieved several responses back. It seems many of us are waiting anxiously for this event to happen. One of my friends was going out with a group to find some live music tonight.....they have decided to stay in and catch the webcast instead. I think they have made the right choice.

Thanks to Linford and Karin and everyone else for making this possible. This is a great idea. I think I will run out and get a bottle of wine to enjoy also?
Kirk
In six weeks, Trumpet Child will arrive.
Tonight, chat and webcast are live.
But I can't listen in,
Much to my chagrin.
Could the chat transcript stay in an archive?

Is that possible, Drew? I can wait (impatiently) for the music, but I hate to miss what K&L and you all have to say about it. At the least, I hope some people recap it on here.
Aaron
Sniff, too bad I have a ton of errands to run this afternoon. Don't think I'll be able to make it back before 5.
askewphotography
It is starting soon.
FloridaGirl
It keep freezing up on me--I don't know if it's because I'm listening via VLC instead of Windows Media, or because it can't handle all the traffic. (I hope it's the latter.) smile.gif
jholland
The chat afterwards was loads of fun... thanks for setting that up, Drew. smile.gif

That was really beautiful. It was so neat to see old "faces" and such. It's a nice community, this one.
Thanks to everyone who made it possible. Good stuff.
theaterboi01
I thoroughly enjoyed it myself. Thanks for all who made it not only a magical evening but a frantic one too hahah I think I had ADD for a while there trying to read all the comments and questions.

yeah, it was a pretty cool experience. very well done. and the sreaming seemed to go of without any major problems. chat with 150 people is, well..frantic, my eyes were spiing around in my head. but it was fun and interesting nonetheless. and as kiylie noted, this is really a pretty incredible little community we have here.

once again, kudos to "the drew"™ and obviously to K&L and everybody that helps them do what they do, brandon, juicy...

very nice indeed. thank you.

umm, i forgot...was karin magnum? laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Frantic to say the least......but that was fun trying to keep your eye on something being said.

The Trumpet Child is wonderful new music again, put together by an awesome group of people. The song writing is great. The music is another turn in the road that we have come to expect from OTR.

I had waited since last September to hear The Trumpet Child again after hearing them play it at the Duck Room in St Louis. Absolutely beautiful and yes chill producing..........again.

It was wild, no doubt about it.

My head hurts.

Thanks, Drew. I hope you don't have nightmares about hordes of zombies marching after you asking, "Where's Karin?" "Is Karin here?" "Why isn't Karin here?" "Who is this Magnum, and why does he keep pretending to be Karin?"

Can't wait to see that animated video for "Don't Wait for Tom."

No, Magnum was Karin. laugh.gif

Chat with 150 people was insane. And the album is magnificent.

Well, after all the hullabaloo last week, I wasn't able to be at my computer last night. Long story but the Cliff Notes version is: I have two girls under the age of 4 and they were in meltdown mode because of not taking naps earlier.

At any rate, is there a transcript of the chat session that could be posted?

i think someone was going to try to capture it. but in all honesty, while it was a lot of fun, it wasn't too enlightening. most of the time it was pretty overwhelming, there were around 150 people in there and questions (from excellent to inane and everywhere in between) and comments were flying at a furious pace. it was virtually impossible to keep up with.

i think if something like that happens again in the future (and i hope it does), last night could have been a great learning experience, and in the future it will have to be moderated in some way and not such a free for all. but regardless, it was a blast and fun to be a part of.

too bad you missed it tho, the album, as expected, is excellent. you may want to check in on overtherhine.com from time to time, there were hints that they were going to start streaming some songs on there soon.

I agree that there might not be that much to gain from reading a transcript of what happened last night. It was just one of those priceless moments you had to experience. I'm still laughing thinking back on it. My 13 yr. old daughters who chats with friends all the time just stood over my shoulder watching for a bit laughing at the insane pace of things.

I was happy that Linford caught my reference to being a spiritual mutt. He said he could relate.

I think it was kylie jo that agreed to get it copied? It would be fun to read through it all again.

Fun night from start to finish. I hope Linford has recovered from what sounded like a brutal attack by Drew? ohmy.gif I hope you are okay Linford. biggrin.gif

We agree that the pace of the chat was hectic (and how!) and have already discussed that a future chat (should there be one) would be best if it was moderated.

I was very pleased with how everything turned out... Sure, there are a few things learned from this (first) outing, and we're still debriefing & processing. But I'd call it a runaway success with just a few details to iron out.

Kent: Linford had it coming. wink.gif

absolutely!

I had an absolute blasty-blast.

That is all. biggrin.gif

Glad the rest of you had a good time. I managed to sign on about an hour and a half too late. Sometimes I wish I wasn't so forgetful...

I thought they said that the album would be up and streaming TODAY. But I haven't seen anything yet. Did I misunderstand?

It was big fun, and we missed you! But your voiceovers sounded smooth and silky, Brian! Very nice addition to the mix.

"Frantic" is a good word for it! Very enjoyable experience.
kylie jo
yeah, there was no way to copy it b/c the "room" only holds so much of the conversation at a time. boo.

i'm gonna go ahead and stick with my review of the album.

The Trumpet Child

Just based on the initial listen-through during the webcast, I'd say that the first six songs are a formidable block of music. Just inredible stuff. The best stuff to me seems to all be loaded to the front of the album. I'm not as in love with the second half of the album on first glance, but I have a feeling I will warm up to it once I've listened to it a couple of times.

Regardless, I am so thrilled about all of the lush instrumentation with horns, strings, and woodwinds. I've been waiting a long time for an Over the Rhine album to sound like this.

Linford's new rap, "Don't Wait For Tom" was amazing. I can't wait to hear that one live.

That's what you think...I might be able to post a "transcript" of sorts in the next few days. I just used the screen grab feature and Microsoft Word, so it's a huuuge file and it should be trimmed a bit before I try to post it. I'm 99% sure I have everything on there, though. Maybe we could get the K&L parts typed up properly, even.

I didn't think much of Tome Waits until I heard Linford's trib to him.
