You HBO watchers...especially fellow Deadwood ho's.
This show is created by the same guy...David Milch.
It has many of the same actors as Deadwood, including Garrett Dillahunt, Dayton Callie, Jim Beaver.
The main stars are Bruce Greenwood, Rebecca DeMornay, Ed O'Neill and Brian Van Holt
It is S-T-R-A-N-G-E...but totally excellent. It's only 3 episodes in and I'm hooked in a 'Twin Peaks' sorta way.
The title character is played by Austin Nichols...(Morgan Earp from Deadwood) His real name is probably not John and he's fer shur NOT from Cincinnati. Weird things are happening since he mysteriously just showed up.
If you have the chance to catch this show from the beginning I recommend it.

Okay, I've caught about three and half episodes so far, including all of the first one. I don't get it. It's nice to see all the old Deadwood actors again, and the show has it's moments, but it's not making a lot of sense right now except in the context of mythology I don't subscribe to. I mean, I suppose there could be a more interesting explanation than this John guy is an angel, but I doubt it. Idiot savant would be more interesting. And except for that one guy, the rest of the show plays like a soap opera on par with Falcon Crest, except in the surfing world.

It comes across to me as if this is a project that was half developed and then hurried into production when Deadwood was suddenly canceled. Milch's revenge is apparently the bad poetry this John guy spouts. I have heard the Twin Peaks analogy before, so I guess it makes sense I don't like it since I didn't like that show either.

Glad you are enjoying it, however, Trudes.
