Someone made a brilliant video for "I Want You To Be My Love". I found it on Youtube. Great concept and visually stunning.

Brilliant.
It says it is "not official video" in the notes there...but I am sure curious who did it and what K&L think of it!

THAT is one hell of a video! very worthy of the OtR brand name. Not official?? well someone needs to show that to Karin & Linford and get their official stamp of approval! I can't believe they know nothing of this! I'm sure they'll like it...

Wow. That was awesome.
If there's ever an OTR DVD (you know, if they get around to it while DVD's still exist

) they should totally try to have that included...OTR has a closer relationship with fans than a lot of artists, so I think having a bit of fan-created content as a 'bonus' to an official DVD would be kind of neat.

So how about another YouTube argument, huh?
They paid $1.65 billion for YouTube, but it's not going to be worth much if there isn't anything on it people actually want to watch.
Still, I really think whoever made it should submit it to K&L for consideration on an OTR DVD, if one ever gets made.

an Over The Rhine DVD... a ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.... whew, that's a GOOD ONE!
WalrusOct9
Jul 4 2007, 05:51 PM
Yeah, by the time that happens DVD's will be going the way of the CD.
It's still weird....there's prog bands who've sold fewer records in their careers than OTR does with one album who've still managed to get a few cameras in and put a DVD out.
I have this feeling (no evidence, just a feeling) that with so much care put into OTR's images on their albums and such, that any DVD they do would have to be equally artsy, which is a shame, since I think just getting a decent camera crew at a Taft show would suffice. And with OTR being a fairly stationary band onstage, a lot of angles could be covered with stationary cameras. I don't really know what the holdup is, unless there's some reason K&L just don't want to do one. I'm surprised BackPorch didn't push for it, it would've been a better "end of contract" release than than the compilation CD. Oh well...maybe someday.
Brookd
Jul 4 2007, 11:37 PM
oh yeah... just guessing here like you, but I'm pretty sure that OtR are ultra perfectionists regarding what gets released (hell, they almost didn't release GDBD due to it being a demo!). Based on the little snippets they let show of the video that was once in the works, if they had just released what they had of that in some coherent way, I would have been extremely happy. I think sometimes the artists are their own worst enemy...
WalrusOct9
Jul 5 2007, 01:25 AM
Yeah, I remember those clips. I was hoping eventually they'd just give up on the documentary (since that obviously isn't going to happen) and release the live footage, since that's what I really am interested in seeing. I'd much rather have a nicely shot OTR show from start to finish than a Rattle & Hum style mix of various sources. The latter would be more artsy, but I think just a straight up concert on DVD would be a lot more fulfilling....then add the "behind the scenes" stuff or studio footage as bonus features.
Really...it's time. Get a few cameras in the Taft Theater and film that sucker.

They have to comply with legal issues if something is copyright material (like the song in question). Who knows... maybe Virgin axed it b4.
