Saw this movie this afternoon at the local theater and really enjoyed it; I think a lot of apples out there would enjoy it since it is a story about a guitar playing, singer songwriter street musician/vacuum cleaner repair man who work's at his dad's repair shop who just can't help but let his music out. One day a woman walks by and hears him playing and srikes up a conversation. Turns out, she used to play a little piano but hasn't owned one for awhile.

Takes place in Dublin for the most part. Glen Hansard, lead singer and founding member of the Frames, plays the the lead character. It costars Marketa Irkova. FWIW, Rolling Stone gave it great reviews. I liked it a whole lot, and the music, which seemed to be playing throughout almost the entire movie, was great too.

It was a good story; I like movies with good stories. No special effects whatsoever, just a European movie that was raw with new music and a fresh story. Low budget no doubt, which can be a good thing sometimes.

I thought I had heard a few of the songs might have been glen doing slower versions of Frames' songs, but I may be WAY off as I have yet to see it.

Saw this last nite - being a music lover... I thought it was really good.
Most of the music is fantastic, and haunting. The melodies haven't really left me, and the story was beautiful.

Here's the trailer.

We watched this today and really enjoyed the music. I couldn't help but wonder if the movie was even scripted because it seemed so spontaneous. Does anybody know?

The Swell Season- Live From the Artists Den

Its Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova recorded in Seattle at the
1906 built Good Shepherd Center Chapel. Very nice.
