with the new tour dates beginning to show up, i thought i'd post a reminder about this little volunteer fan effort...

brandon and i have traded a couple of e-mails about this recently and he's going to be updating the the street team page shortly and possibly add a new option or two.

i've offered to help coordinate this in the orchard again this time around, it's a really easy way to help out for those of you that would like to do so. i put out 21 posters today alone, with very little time and effort involved and think i can get out at least that many more placed in the next day or two. the prime opportunities are independent, locally owned businesses like; record stores, bookstores, coffee shops, smoothie shops, music (instrument) stores and i had some luck in a couple of high end dessert shops and wine shops. in most cases i was allowed to place the posters in the front windows at the entrance, in high traffic areas and very visible to people as they entered the shops and also to people passing by on the street, in the worst cases they were placed on bulletin boards.

it's probably a good idea to get the posters placed 2-3 weeks before the show while interest and impulse is highest. i actually enlarged the posters to 11X17 (but standard 8.5 x 11 works fine also), copied them on "off white" cardstock so they would stand out and hold up better (very marginal difference in copying costs), also, if you decide to volunteer, it's a good idea to carry your own push pins/thumb tacks and your own roll of scotch tape.

the street team site is located at: http://www.overtherhine.com/team/index.html and you can download the poster there (i entered all of the info in word, printed it and pasted it to the bottom of the pdf and ran my copies, it just looks, imho, "cleaner").

example:

here are the dates so far, if you are interested in volunteering copy and paste (the entire tour schedule) and add your name next to the show that you are offering to help with. i'll pass the info along to brandon on a regular basis.

thanks much in advance for the interest & help.

lisa, thank you! smile.gif

please post any ideas, suggestions, places that you had success with, etc, anything that might help others that decide to volunteer.

also, in a city as spread out as cinti (and many others too), there are room for more that one or even two volunteers. we can divide it up geographically, or how ever we need to if there is more than one person offering to help out.

thanks again,

bill

I live in Clifton and work downtown (and in Florence, depending), so those areas are easy for me to cover. I'm all for dividing things up among people in various parts of the city if others want to join in the fun. smile.gif

You say putting stuff up 2-3 weeks ahead is good...but is it worth getting started now? Or should we wait until we're a little closer (say July)?

yeah, i would wait until 2-3 wks prior (maybe up by the w/e of aug 10th or so?). some stores have limited space and don't leave the signs up long and much before that they'll get taken down, posted over, faded, etc. plus, the more aware, hard core fans (ie: us) are gonna buy anyway, it's the "impulse" or uninformed buyer that's more likely to be impacted by the signs.
