Well, it was a rowdy crowd...but the band was awesome as always.
Gotta tell you - OTR makes a REALLY interesting sound-track to H.R. PufNStuf (which was playing on the TVs around the bar...probably a lot more noticeable to us since we were back at the Merch table).
Had a BLAST helping merch, BTW.

Even *with* Juicy messing with us. LOL
So, in honor of the imp...here's Juicy.

Thanks for a great tour, guys! Looking forward to Taste of Cincinnati.

Coyote Throws Acorns from his apple tree. Volume 1
So the end of this month and I'll have upped my show count by 10 since a rainy drive to Little Brothers to catch the opener of Winter Tour.
Snow Angels, Snow Apples.
Yeah, eventful few months would be an understatement, but that's what my LJ is for.
The Lime Spider show...
There is a reason that Akron's named after a river in Hell. In the 3-4 OTR shows I've seen at the Spider, this is the first where the crowd's been so drunkenly misbehaved. Rowdy's one way to put it, much as I wanted to just depants the one fool and shake out his pockets.
But you shouldn't go over the merch table to eject a patron, least I don't think I'm supposed to do that anymore. Certainly did a time or 2 at the Brady. In the 'way back.
The HR Pufnstuff and Fantastic Planet (oh my) on the screens was the point at which I thought they hadn't swept out the crowd from the Nimrod show the previous week.
(I was in that band, for about a month, 15 years ago. Proud to be a former member and not one of the casualties).
Ellery and OTR both put in really good shows, in spite of the crowd. I wouldn't say that there wasn't a bunch of folks to see the band, or weren't happy to discover Ellery- and good on 'em- can't be easy taking on a crowd like that in front of family.
Still there were highlights-
Where Karin often mentions the journey that "Waste Your Time" is, I suspect the same must be for Linford with "Trumpet Child." It's massive, sprawling. It's a 4 piece band making a choir and orchestra soar.
It shut the crowd up.
Euphrates made the crack at me with "Trumpet Child" that "It's bad enough to be able to name the song in half a bar. You shouldn't be able to karaoke the intro"
What can I say, I like the same bunch. Though being from this side of the state, I heard a lot more Dave Brubeck.
They certainly rose to the challenge. I don't think REM's done "One I Love" so hot since Stipe sobered up.
More's the pity the crowd wasn't up for an encore. I could've sworn I heard Jake play the intro to "Like a Radio" at sound check.
Why yes, my mouth kinda dropped when I heard it.
There's some other stuff, 'nuff that in its own ways, it was one of my favorite shows.
I want to throw mad props and much love to Kylie Jo, who had no idea what she might have been accomplice-ing herself to. You did good.
Be well
More later.
I'm about to out the door and head down for Taste of Cincy, and that 10th show.
