April 21, Joe’s Pub, New York City – 2 shows
April 23 XM 50 The Loft Taping

It feels good to sell out sometimes. When it’s a coupla shows in NYC, even better. Thanks folks.

We rolled into New York City about an hour late thanks to traffic. Seems like no matter how we plan for that, an extra hour or two gets sucked into the void that is the George Washington Bridge.

(Imagine counting all the time that gets lost there for all the people that cross it IE: get stuck on it, everyday. Lifetimes in total, I would imagine. Anybody care to do the math?)

So that made sound check a little more hectic than usual, but thanks to our crew and the staff at Joe’s Pub, it all came out in the wash.

For as many times as we’ve played the Big Apple, I’ve never really had one of those ‘shopping sprees’ you hear about. I was hoping to sneak in a little half day here, but no such luck. I’ll do some damage if and when I do because I’ll be making up for lost time. Maybe it’s all part of Linford’s grand design to get the girl in and out of Manhattan as quickly as possible. Hmmm.

Well, what mattered were the shows. And it's all good.

When we settled into Washington DC that next evening, we had a nice dinner and some wine and capped it off with a little quality time with one of my two favorite television families, The Sopranos. Admittedly, I am not looking forward to the series end. (Cue Cowboy Junkies’ Sad to See the Season Go.) Linford and I do Sopranos marathons sometimes in the dead of winter on the farm and watch whole seasons in a day or two. We drink a lot of wine and eat too much ziti and feel generally unhealthy for a while.

That’s Amore'.

Although I have my doubts that any ensuing televised accounts of disfunctional yet glorious, disturbedly sordid, gorgeously tacky, and captivatingly cruel communities will ever become quite the addiction that Carmella and company have, I have discovered the new FX series The Riches. I’ve been a longtime fan of Eddie Izzard and was twitterpated to hear he was potentially becoming a regular part of my week. Brilliant. More Eddie.

But back to my reality...
