Come on out, apples.
Trudes
Linford's newsletter had stated they were once again doing the Songwriting Workshop in Santa Fe the first week of August. Now it makes sense! Santa Fe is a short hop from Albuquerque.

I wish I could attend that workshop as well but it is mucho dinero. At least I will get my fix at the show 07/28. My sister lives in Albuquerque.
Will I be the onlyest APPLE there? Come out and visit the Southwest.
michelle
Dawn C. posted somewhere on here that she was super excited about this date. I think in the 'new OTR dates added' thread. Not sure. So you won't be the only apple so far, Trudes.

Hey! Jen (pailblueyes) is gonna be in NM at that time I think....

Man I would love to make this show and say howdy to you but it's the same day as Eric Clapton's Guitar Festival in Chicago so unfortunately it's a no go for me. And I have been wanting to go to Arizona to see my sister so this would have been perfect for killing two (or three) stones with one bird. Hopefully next time.

Is anyone going to the songwriting workshop? Sounds so wonderful.
pailblueyes
So, I'm not going.

Because I'm going to New Mexico in May, instead of July.

Sorry guys. :[
dawn
The hubby and I just got tix to this show. Woot!
Trudes
WHOA!!
On the tour page here they list July 28th as Grand Rapids MI. I hope that was a typo. Albuquerque is not on the list. We have our airline tix and concert tix already. blink.gif
Trudes
OMG...I have a bad feeling about this. The venue in Albuquerque no longer has them on their calendar. HELP!
michelle
Pollstar is still showing the 7/28 date at Golden West in NM, Trudes.

Sorry Trudes! It's a mistake. We ARE still scheduled to play Albuquerque on July 28. We'll address the typo asap.
See you in New Mexico and sorry again for the unecessary freak out. =)

I'll be the short chick with the tall husband and equally tall male friend smile.gif We'd most likely be up for something after!
Trudes
I'm baaaaaack.
And what an excellent show it was.
I went with my neice and we sat along the wall on the bench. The edge of the bench was equivilent to almost front row....perfect seat.
It was just Karin and Linford. (They said the band will join them for the Boulder show Wednesday) I'm really psyched for that one too.
The setlist was excellent. I'll leave the order of songs for David (Historyprof) to post as he nabbed Karin's setlist sheet and my memory is non-existent.
BTW, meeting David was a joy. What a great fan and really nice guy. Dawn...I wish I could have found you. Maybe Boulder? The crowd was really big. The room was packed.
I will say the track selection of really old stuff, really new stuff as well as my personal favorites made it an evening of Silver and Gold.
From 1991 And Can it Be. I near died when I heard this. I wanted to cry. I LOVE this song.
From 1992 Jacksie. What a treat. I want to watch Serpents and Gloves again, now.
From 1996 Latter Days. Still my all time favorite...it was the hook. And Etc Whatever. So beautiful.
From 2003 Ohio. A total crowd pleaser.
From The (brand new) Trumpet Child. I Don't Wanna Waste Your Time, Trouble, Nothing is Innocent, Entertaining Thoughts, The Trumpet Child, Lets Spend the Day in Bed, If a Song Could be President...All were done beautifully.
In addition, Only God can Save us Now...very touching for me as Karin talked about her appreciation for the nurses at her Mom's nursing home and for nurses in general and mentioned that this song would have special meaning for me.
Thank you Karin....your mom is so lucky to have a beautiful caring daughter and son-in-law who are so loving and supportive.
We talked after the show and I introduced my neice who is now a genuine fan. biggrin.gif
All in all a geat show in a nice venue and appreciative crowd.
I will be up front for the Boulder show Wednesday fer sher.
Here's a photo I took with may camera phone:

and here's an article my sister cut out of the Albuquerque paper before the show.

I forgot to mention, Karin was recovering from a black eye. It really didn't show anymore watching her onstage, but she said she still had a bit of road rash in places that were hidden. It was a kinda amusing but really scary story about what was supposed to be a fun little bike tour they were taking near the farm that ended up a near-miss with a pooch (not one of theirs), an asphalt face plant, a bloody ride in a car with strangers, a (thankfully negative) MRI, and a swollen bee-stung lip for Linford. Great timing, eh? The hospital must have thought there had been a train wreck. Glad they are all right.

Thanks so much for the lovely report and the photo, Trudes! smile.gif

Woot!!! Trudues covered most of it but here is my contribution:

I met quite a few people, most from the local area who came to the show because of the promotor, Neil's efforts. I also met Joy and Aaron from Denver who are big fans and very thoughtful in the artists they listen to (thanks guys for a great conversation!!) Of course, meeting Trudes was definately a highlight for me.

The show was at a small club that occupies part of a building along a string of performance spaces at the west end of Center Street (Route 66) in Albuquerque. When Linford wrote it was a living room show....that is really what you felt. Although attendance trickeled in, there were about 200+ inside for the show. Seating was set out in the narrow space of about 8 chairs wide and maybe 12 rows. Then the club had small cafe tables and chairs through the rest of the space back to the pool table (merch table). There was a very nice bar along one wall giving you the feel of an old saloon or soda fountain (tin ceilings, wood floors, etc). Since I got there first, my seat was front row center.

As mentioned it was just Karin and Linford performing, using 2 acoustic guitars and a keyboard. The sound was impeccable. Here is the set list:

Drunkard's Prayer
Born
Etc. Whatever
I Don't Wanna Waste Your Time
Nothing is Innocent
Trumpet Child
Entertaining Thoughts
Let's Spend the Day in Bed
And Can it Be
Jacksie
Ohio
Trouble
Only God Can Save Us Now
Orphan Girl
If a Song Could Be President
Latter Days

What a great quote. It explains why The Poopsmith Song didn't make the cut. laugh.gif

Trudes and David - sorry we missed you! We were sitting in chairs, next to the bench, so we were close! Thanks for the great reviews. It was an amazing, intimate show. Worth the way-long drive to ABQ. Oh, Karin also thanked Trudes for coming down from Boulder.

I'll try to post more later, once we download pics. Trudes - maybe we'll see you tomorrow!
