ok, here's a little taste of friday night...



they started the night out w/an amazing cover of "the one i love" (r.e.m.) which i would describe as a "slow burn" kind of song, an excellent start to what was to be an incredible night of music...















during mickey's "golden showers apartments...THAT'S NOT FUNNY" story (sorry, you had to be there).


and jake's started picking up the electric on a few songs...

these two shows would have to rank up there w/two of the best i have ever seen. great shows, great sets surrounded by great people.

* and fwiw, if you ever compete w/karin at anything, lose. or if you happen to mistakenly win, my advice...don't trash talk to her while doing so. trust me. you may win the battle, she will win the war. always remember, she has a microphone and isn't afraid to use it... (but, it was pretty damn funny stuff)

Awesome posts everyone... makes me feel like I was there.... only not.

Looks like I missed a classic, amazing weekend.

hey, linford and jake accidentially snuck into a few of them.

but actually, that is one of the (few) major issues at CST (and most venues like it), the lighting is horrific. and nobody but the person up front is lit very well. i took quite a few of everyone else & full band shots (and always do), they just aren't worth showing. (out of about 200-250 combined "snaps" on both nights, there's only 25-30 that i felt were "keepers").

welp, those were definitely "keepers". Nice shootin' tex!

oh, and how could i forget the "kylie trivia" section of the show? it was hilarious, to the point that linford asked "what's kylie's favorite color?" (audience reply: "green!") and "what's kylie's mom's name?" (audience reply: "kylie's mom!") even made it into the lyrics of the kick-ass closer "jack's valentine," where mickey delivered possibly the most amazing drum solo that i have ever witnessed...

some classic stuff.

it was nice to meet everyone.

here's some of my pics from this weekend, mostly of the peeps.
can a weekend be any more fun than this one. the music was incredible, the company was incredible,
what more can be said. its the best of times.
a lot of apples were sorely missed.
it was nice to meet new apples (to me) and reaquaint with the others.
got to meet erin and erik (the cheesecake people from des moines), kevin (askewphotography) and his 2 friends, tish, margarita and her friends (whose names i've forgotten at this moment), mike (mpgarr), ted (tedzilla99)- he was first in line saturday night,
taliendo's sidbillies, my new stepdaughter rachel, and jenni. i hope i didn't leave anyone out.
and was so great to see kj and bill again, it feels like i just saw you guys last week.
and also to see zayne and make a visit to her place, have a nice chat, and also got to meet her kids.
and was so, so good to see jeanne (always with the trigger finger on her camera), and liza, chuck,
jessyka, dan, rick.c and his lovely wife kate, kylies mom, shawn f. and of course capt. shawn and the hot one (kimberly) again. i'm sure i've forgotten someone, and if so i didn't mean to.

edit- i forgot about emmy and sharon, plus kylies friend jeff. was great to see y'all

fun fun times all weekend, from the get together at brixx, where everyone is buzzing with anticipation, to standing in the lines freezing our you-know-whats off (don't you love that minnesota-like weather). all the fun and laughter made the 2 cold nights standing in line very warm and bearable. and then going inside where the band was HOT!
to staying late both nights, chatting with apples and getting to spend time with a wonderfully accessible band, wow what fun.
some more favorite moments-
dinner at thai 9, driving to cincinnati to spend some time with some good friends, being able to share these moments with my lovely wife (who truly loves you all), listening to 2 amazing nights of music, nametags, listening to karin cluck at jake at the bar, calling him chicken, and then karin making raccoon noises. priceless. and what better way to top it all off is to drive to miamisburg after 2 in the morning, to go eat at the the pulp fiction perkins.
flying home today with a smile on my face and a feeling of satisfaction and love.

thanks for posting all these amazing pics, guys. I'm just waiting to see how many more "two headed monster" ones go up. You know what I am talking about.

Jessyka helpfully texted me Saturday night to let me know how awesome the show was and what I missed, and she was right. What a weekend! Even though I just got the first half of it, and drove out by myself, and ran laps at rest areas on the way home to keep from falling asleep and dying, I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Man, I gotta get a good camera. See you apples soon. (APPLESAUCE!!!)

I thought Karin's trumpet playing was well done

you were missed keith. by everyone. not that it'll make you feel any better but, karin dedicated "hometown boy" to you on friday night, read your note and talked about you being snowed in. on saturday, she again acknowledged your flowers and her disappointment in you not being there.
