I loved this film. I usually like this kind of story that intertwines threads and you see how later they are all connected. I thought the acting was wonderful, but not one actor stood out more than the others. I see why the movie is up for an award. Very thought provoking and heart wrenching at times. Also quite inflammatory to me because of how it depicts how wrong assumptions by people in positions of power and influence can literally destroy truths.

Mom and I are watching this tomorrow in our last-ditch effort to bone up for the Oscars! Holy cow, there are - what - 17 films up for the Big 6 categories. It was tough to keep up with them. Has there been another year when none of the Best Actor (male lead) nominations were for any of the Best Picture nominated films??

Have yet to see it. Of course, it was ANOTHER one that didn't play here. I don't understand how we can have an 8-plex here and yet have so many not brought here even for a week! Grrrrr!!

Holy smokes! What an awesome film. I can completely see how Adriana Barraza and Rinko Kikuchi were nominated, and why Gustavo Santaolalla won for score. It really is thought provoking on so many levels and is really complex. My only thing is I wonder if Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett had been replaced by unknown actors, would the film worked better?

i watched this last night at the 2nd-run cinema for $1. wow. inarritu's work always cuts deep, doesn't it? even if there wasn't that one piece of weaponry connecting the stories, they'd all be great stories to tell in one film -- sometimes i wonder if that single strand of connectedness is necessary?

but don't get me wrong. i really liked the movie -- and the music was superb! i didn't know it til today that the music won the oscar, which was richly deserved.
