oddly enough, as I scanned our availability the other day, we can no longer get OHIO in our store. which means you can't get it at ANY Barnes & Noble... I'm not sure if this has to do with their recent free agency status, or not. Also, you CAN get discount fireworks from B&N, although it doesn't look like it will ship automatically (at least to our store) so you'll have to special order it- but we can get it. The only other albums currently available from our warehouse are DP and FFR.
I must say, I'm flabbergasted. I hand sold the last copy of OHIO the other day, and now I don't really know what to do.

The other day I was visiting my local Border's store and they had no OtR discs in stock and on their computer system---it had nearly everything done by the group as being not available or out of print----so I don't know what is up with that.
I can find their CDs at the Joseph-Beth location at Rookwood Plaza in Cincy---
I have not seen Fireworks available yet though.

At the Borders I frequent, I've been nagging the audio people to stock up some OTR (for about two years). I think they have one DP CD left and that's it. They've never gotten any other stuff in all that time. I don't git it.

They're creating a nationwide shortage to induce a buying frenzy!! Finally some extreme guerrilla indie music marketing.
We should see a national OTR takeover in two weeks tops.
Viva la revolucion!

I thought they had dissapeared from our local B & N as well, until I found them under the generic O location about a month or so ago. This past Saturday I stopped in B & N to do some browsing, and after checking out the Springsteen cds I went down to the O section and found them back in their own little Over The Rhine section. They currently have "Films For Radio", "Ohio", and "Drunkards Prayer" in stock. I didn't see "Discount Fireworks' there yet although it might have been in the new releases section which I did not check out.

I went to my local Border's location--a place I have bought the bulk of my music in recent years---even though this is actually a brand new location that replaced the original one and even though it is very high tech and cutting edge--it does not have quite the warmth the old location had.
I wanted to buy a copy of "Discount Fireworks" but lo and behold--they had none in stock. The only OtR disc they had on hand was one copy of "Drunkard's Prayer."
The music finder on the store's computer system said more copies were on order and to see the info desk people to reserve a copy.
I went up and spoke to the young woman manning the desk--she said they had ONE copy due to arrive in the next week or so.
I had seen an add in Friday's edition of the local daily paper for a local record shop that had the disc advertised at $12.99.
I got home and called to make sure they had a copy--they said they had many copies. I got in the car and drove downtown and yes--they had at least 20 copies of "Discount Fireworks" along with a good selection of OtR's other currently available releases.
I don't know what is up with the national chains--I guess I will start to buy my music from Gem City Records--it still has that great vibe that good local record stores always had-it is one of the few local music retailers left in this town--better to support the local music retaliers and a "local" group like OtR anyway!!!!!

hmmm... let me carefully clarify. If your B&N has OHIO in currently, it is safe, and will stay there. However, based on what the computer is saying (at present), we cannot order any more in, so once they're gone, they're gone.
I was also shocked last week to find GDBD and Amateur Shortwave in the computer system, although neither are available. They've never even been listed before!
