Hello all. I met a few of you over the Taft weekend, but only really talked to a few of you.
My name in Elisabeth.
That's pretty much all you need to know, but I'll let you in on a few more secrets.

I'm a senior in college at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I'll graduate in May (finally) with a BFA in Dance. ::Everyone tries to figure out what a person can do with a degree in dance:: Answer? not much. I started my training at the late age of thirteen in ballet. Before then I was a soccer stud. But my degree is primarily focused on performance and choreography in Modern dance. What is modern dance? Ha. Well...that's a long discussion. What do yo uthink it is? The that's probably a right answer.

Unless you think modern dance is some horrible "So you think you can dance" crap. Then you're wrong. I'm also an elitist.

I don't exactly know what I am planning on doing yet, but I am hoping to move to Africa soon. I am really interested in joining a dance company over there while studying traditional forms. I have an opportunity to teach in Sudan which I will probably jump on in a few years. I want ot live in an orphanage and chil out with some kids too.

Anyway...(just me wasting time so I don't have to do anything productive.)
I love reading. Austen fanatic. But I have been stepping away from Romantic literature because i have learned it is not wholly healthy for my emotional state.
I love music.
I don't know what else to say on here.
I'm an anglophile.

So...
that's about it.

Welcome to the Orchard, Elisabeth!

so glad to have met you at taft, although you shouldn't say that you're the t-shirt guy's sister. you totally have your own personality.

let's keep in touch...i want to visit africa one day and will need a place to stay! lol

no, seriously...when i was younger and in college, i completely wanted to go to africa to study west african drumming. the experiences i've had with it have been amazing, and i certainly would jump at the chance to have some more.

welcome...hope to see you around!

Hi Elisabeth,
It was great to meet you.
How great that you are into dance.
Eons ago I danced in a little African Dance group under Valerie Bergman and Darryl Thomas (Pilobolus)

and LOVED it.
I took a few African drumming lessons with Bob Bloom at that time too. A few of us were able to go to Senegal and Guinea to a dance/drumming workshop but I couldn't go.

I'm glad you've joined the Orchard.

I didn't get to meet you at Taft (has it really been 5 years since my one and only Taft experience?!?), but I'll welcome you nonetheless. smile.gif Dance is something I really know nothing about, but I do have a deep love for Africa as I had the privilege of living in Kenya for several years as a child. Unfortunately, in the approximately 29 years since my family moved back here to California I've yet to make the return trip to Kenya that I'd love to make, though I did manage a relatively short trip into South Africa a couple years ago. It was nice to be back on African soil, but it wasn't the Kenya of my youth.

I do think it's wonderful that you're wanting to spend some time over in Africa yourself and would like to see more people do likewise.

Steve, want to try to make the Taft next year? Let's plan it early.

I'd like to do Taft again. Frankly though, I'd prefer to make it to Canal Street though. Those are usually better shows.

It would be very, very cool if we could get a group of us from out here to make the trip back there - whichever venue we're talking about.

Hi again Elisabeth. Nice to meet you last weekend. You're much cuter than Joel. And a much better dancer I'm guessing.

I can't dance.

word, trudes, for real.... if you all want to see my efforts at dancing, hasten over here, and yes elisabeth has already had a good laugh at my expense about it.

in fact, one of the best things about the taft weekend were the good laughs at my expense that elisabeth had. great to meet you, girl.

Hello Elisabeth! It was nice to meet you and sit next to you at Taft! Many happy journeys to you! Sounds like an exciting one to come! Best wishes!

I have always loved dance. Wish I could do it more. Instead I just dance with Ellen when I get the chance and dance alot alone in my house.

Dance whenever you feel like it!

I was at the Saturday night Canal Street Tavern show back in November--it was a great show--hopefully OTR will be doing the Spring shows there too and I can get to one of those.
