This is by far the best apple crisp I've ever had, bar none.
It's from The Bayfield Festive Apple Cookbook. Enjoy!

This is for a 8x8 pan, double the amounts for a 9x13.

It's called:
Absolutely the World's BEST Apple Crisp! (No, really...)

Ingredients:
4 cups, peeled, sliced apples
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place sliced apples in the bottom of
a medium greased baking dish. Mix dry ingredients and sprinkle over
the apples, then pour the water over the apples.

Crisp:
3/4 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine

Mix flour, oats, and sugars. Cut in butter or margarine with a fork
until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle crumb mixture over apples.
Add a little cinammon on top. Bake for one hour.

Serve with ice cream, whipped cream, or as is.

and make sure to use a cooking apple like
McIntosh, Beacon, Cortland, Haralson, Fireside, Connell Red.
Don't use Red Delicious, its not recommended for cooking.

If interested here's a link to culinary apples and their tastes from the Minnesota region.
I'm sure these are available elsewhere in the country.
