I haven't watched TV for about 4 weeks now except when at my dad's or someplace where it's on. A chip went out on mine, and I've just not had the repair guys pick it up yet. Come winter I will because there's lots of movies that I want to watch. However, it's really amazing that I don't miss it all that much. It was basically on for the noise.

I've been essentially without TV for almost two years. While I own one, I don't have cable or satellite, and regular reception where I live is crappy. I'm glad I don't get much in - I'd rather spend the time with friends or reading, anyway, though I will confess a good percentage of the time I would have spent in front of the TV is now spent online. rolleyes.gif

If it wasn't for the Daily Show I'd really have no reason to have cable. I love Aaron Sorkin enough to watch Studio 60, and I'm kind of addicted to Lost, but everything else I could either do without or just wait for the DVD. (TV shows on DVD are the greatest thing ever...no commercials, and you can rewind the parts where Jennifer Garner is kicking the crap out of people smile.gif)

I see about 99.9999999999999 percent of what is on tv as crap. If it weren't for some anime repeats, the simpsons, and a the news, I wouldn't watch tv at all.

Let me just say that, as someone who works in tv production, its best that you throw your television from the nearest bridge.

2+ years of no TV [channels] for me and I've yet to miss it. I love Netflix and tv shows wind up on DVD anyway, without commercials and without the week long wait between episodes.

I actually went from virtually NO TV to a bit more recently. We now have DVR (cousin to TIVO). I enjoy watching certain programming when I have the time. That was always my beef before. I did not buy the notion of "appointment TV".

Ok, I gotta go watch my Tigers... Out.

Since West Wing and Arrested Development went off the air, I only watch Gilmore Girls on Tuesday nights because Karen loves it (I find it cutesy but tolerable myself, thankfully Lauren Graham is a total babe), the local cable news channel for a few minutes on weekday mornings, The Simpsons or South Park or one of the few HBO shows I like if I happen to think of it, and the occasional music special or NHL game. That's about it -- well, except for watching the Oscars with Trudes. smile.gif I've just lost interest. I don't know if network programming has really gotten much worse in recent years, but it all seems so contrived and un-entertaining to me now. I'd just much rather read or do something music related with my free time.

I spend quite a bit of time online now too, but I'm really hoping y'all actually exist on the other side of this screen. wink.gif

Yeah, no TV for me either, escept tons of children DVD and Netflix in this household.

Though every year when the NFL season starts, it's usually the time I talk about how much I miss TV.

Go Steelers!
