i was playing around on you tube tonight and found this little rarity...

there is very little footage of this guitar virtuso and genius that went way be before his time...

Allman Brothers Band @ The Fillmore - Whippin' Post (Pt 1)
Allman Brothers Band @ The Fillmore - Whippin' Post (Pt 2)

this was truly a brilliant group of players doing it in their prime, i was lucky enough to see them 15-20 times, a couple of times at their (in)famous piedmont park shows in atlanta and was amazed everytime.

so, where were you sittin' keith?

and for you youngsters out there (rachel) you can see derek trucks uncle playin' drums in his prime...and if you love guitar, it's hard to imagine anything better than what duane & dickie did on this song.
WalrusOct9
I owned the new deluxe edition of ABB At Fillmore East. I put it on, and within about 2 minutes it completely owned me.

Wow, I had no idea there was film of the Fillmore East shows! That was my one and only Allman Brothers concert, I was about halfway up the balcony. Definitely one of my all-time faves, I literally couldn't believe what I was hearing, they were so good.

Thanks Bill! smile.gif
GhostWriter
Wow. That's truly amazing footage.
paintedturtlegirl
Thanks bunches, Bill; what a treat to be able to enjoy such a gem of footage there. Having seen the ABB last month, I can testify to the fact that the Allman Brothers Band is still in top form and Derek Trucks is one simply amazing guitar player himself!

The Pogues - Sally MacClennane

Vintage footage. Original lineup of the band with Caitlin "Rocky" O'Riordan (Elvis Costello's wife) on bass.

That was fun, though Shane looks a little too healthy there. It helps fuel the excitement I already have due to the fact I'll finally be seeing the Pogues (with Shane) play in about 2 1/2 weeks. Woohooo!

I thought the same thing when I saw that. His teeth were rotten even then, but he looked a lot more human than recent pics of him. Even scarier, he actually articulated the words he was singing - the scandal!

Here's one that I dig...

Secret Chiefs 3 live in a radio studio. Middle-eastern influenced band from the SF Baby area, with Eyvind Kang (of Mr Bungle) & Timb Harris (of Estradasphere) on violin, Trey Spruance (of Mr Bungle) on that little guitar thingy (a jelebi, perhaps?), Kevin Kmetz (of Fishtank Ensemble, God of Shamisen & Estradasphere) on shamisen, plus several other instrumentalists.
