Mark Haddon's first novel was The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. His second novel will be published in two weeks. Anyone else looking forward to this one?

Oh my! I didn't know this was coming out. I just read his first novel a few weeks ago. How perfect that he has another one for me to read so soon.

Excellent! I just finished his first one last week after reading about it here. Thanks for the heads up.

I just finished this book. I won't spoil with any details, but it's not the same level as his first book. This one is good, but not as clever as his first.

I think Haddon has an incredibly original style of writing. He's like Oliver Sacks as a novelist. Maybe it's a new genre? Neurological realism? wink.gif

I would like to know if anyone else finished this book.

Oh! I forgot this was coming out. I have a gift certificate to Borders, so it looks like I will be going out to get this. I do like his writing style and his last one was a quick read for me. I hope he gives little mathematical facts and anecdotes like in his last one.

Can't go wrong with a gift certificate. I picked up mine at Costco for 13.99 (lists for 24.99).

Just so you know, the facts and anecdotes you mention are missing in the new book. It is a good read, but not on the same level as the first. Maybe he felt rushed to get this one out.

Picked it up! Soon as I finish OHYOS (about a hundred pages away), I can start on this one. (and the two other books I bought thanks to the Orchard).

I finished this one late last night. I considered it an entertaining read, but nothing along the lines of his first.
