My sister.
My family.
Backseat-driver banter.
My brother's supercool hug when I gave him a Superman T-shirt (in which his glasses got stuck on my hair and fell to the ground, with one lens popping out).
Tank tops.
Sparkly dresses.
Performing a perfect sun salutation.
Watching my littlest brother wave shiny objects in the air.

Kylie...Why am I thinking you already have a Jetta? Didn't you have a fender-bender on the way home from an OTR concert with a Jetta?
Perhaps it belonged to your ex?
((ok, i'm done))
you are correct. he has a new jetta, and he left it with me when he went to japan. it was a little more than a fender bender.

hydro-planed into an RV going at least 65mph. it was fixed shortly after, no worries.

Hydro-planing... I'm going to have nightmares now.
I was driving down the hill to my parents' house (after today, I think I have spent a total of seven hours behind the wheel of a motor vehicle) when my sister announced "There was another car accident in front of our house yesterday! I mean, um...." That makes two collisions this week, one of them head-on, neither fatal. And people say not to worry!

Seriously, it's been months since I've done a sun salutation. I really should do one tomorrow morning if I have time.
Tonight, I went to a Maundy Thursday service at a church near my school, and the congregation washed each other's feet. This absolutely blew me away.

I didn't really know where to put this, but it's one of the things that makes life in a small town (3400) interesting (and one of my favorite things). At the noontime Holy Week services down the street at the Methodist church, the pastor was making announcements of upcoming events. She was inviting everyone to a Maundy Thursday service at the church tonight. She knew that the Pilot Club was hosting the Auburn University singers for a fund raiser at the school gym tonight, but "I promise," she said after promising a good service, "I will have you out in time to hear the singers." I realize this seems boring, but only in a small town can you have a fund raiser during Holy Week and have the Methodist minister promise to keep the Maundy Thursday service short enough to attend both. I love this place.

I still smile and take pride in the time I was running late for a basketball game, and the only parking spot within half a mile of the gymnasium hosting the basketball game I was late for appeared to be about 12 inches SHORTER than my car ... and yet, I somehow managed to parallel park my Mercury Tracer hatchback in that space, wedging it into the parking spot with about 4 to 5 inches to spare in front and back. (OK, so the space actually WAS a foot or so longer than my car ... but still!!!)

'Cept, of course, on the Public Square -- one of those no-stopsign, gun-it-and-go kinda squares -- where traffic can be one huge bottleneck, at times!!
(Theoretically, only 3 rules apply to our square: 1. One way only -- to the right!; 2. Do NOT use your turn signal when approaching or departing the square, or the townsfolk will laugh at you; and 3. Traffic should never stop -- hence, you are perpetually in "merge mode.")
Every friend who's ever come to visit me has been frightened by the square!!

It's been my experience (in a vacation spent riding shotgun through Ohio's entire Western half, from Wauseon to northern Kentucky) that every midwestern town has its own little dairy bar, few of which are affiliated with any franchise chain. Dairy King, Dairy Deelite, Dairy Barn... there were dozens more, but memory has swept them away.
I've lost five pounds since realizing I'd gained back fifteen. I am in love with yoga. (I walk two miles to work in ALL weather, so long as the sidewalks are clear. Woo!)
Walking is a happy thing.
For my kindergarten graduation, I wore a pink dress and a white paper mortarboard and had to recite a poem about family in French (because in Quebec, kindergarten half-day programs are conducted in French regardless of the school's dominant language). I had no idea what I was saying. As we pulled back into the gravel drivewayof the parsonage, my dad asked me if I knew what "famille" meant. I didn't. I learned a new word that night.
