Russ' spectacular excess!

Imagine arriving at the post office one day to have a box the size of a small gym locker plopped on the counter with your name on it, with a letter beginning "Libby -- Wasn't sure what your favorite Oreo is, so I got every kind they had." Sugar rush! It isn't every day you get a diabetic coma delivered to your mailbox! THANK YOU SO MUCH, RUSS!!! biggrin.gif

YAY libby! care packages are the best!! (especially ones that involve sugar!!)

Discovering that there are seven different varieties of Oreo. Holy crap! Oh, and getting chai tea stuff and chocolate syrup in the mail. And sharing pop-tarts with panhandlers. And having an excuse to buy a really really big carton of milk!

Sweet emails from boardies. smile.gif

Discovering that there are seven different varieties of Oreo. Holy crap!

But none of 'em's any better than the original!!

: )

Actually, I could be wrong on that, as the only other Oreo-wannabes I've ever tried were double-stuffs ... and I have to stay, the stuffing-to-cookie ratio just wasn't right!

For me, anyway.

Lynne
[VERY serious about my Oreos]

Ralph Nader stealing votes for the Right.

QUOTE(FallingLeaf @ May 21 2004, 08:34 AM)
Ralph Nader stealing votes for the Right.

From http://www.votenader.org/
Did Ralph give Bush the election in 2000?
  • No.
  • No one is entitled to votes, they must be earned.
  • To say someone is a "spoiler" is to relegate all third-party and independent candidates to second class citizenship. American does not belong to two parties.
  • The Constitution does not mention parties.
  • This country had a rich history of third parties.
  • Moreover, a Democratic exit poll showed that Ralph’s votes came 25% from Republicans, 38% from Democrats, and the rest were nonvoters who would have only voted for Ralph. In other words, more than sixty percent of Ralph’s voters would NOT have voted for Gore.
  • In New Hampshire, exit polls showed that Ralph "took more votes" from Republicans than Democrats, by a 2 to 1 margin.
  • It is not the job of third-party or Independent candidates to make sure either of the two major parties wins. That would be like asking a new start-up to make sure Microsoft or Apple has more market share.
  • Moreover, there are 100 million people in this country who do not vote. There are plenty of nonvoters for all candidates to attract.
  • Electoral votes are not a zero-sum game.
  • Historically, third parties and Independents move very important agendas.
Drew, take note. I didn't start it. I was just clarifying misinformation. Now back to your regularly scheduled "warm fuzzies."

All users, take note. The Guidelines to which you agreed when you signed up specifically prohibit the discussion of political (among others) topics on this forum. Re-read the Guidelines and let me know of any questions.

I am now, again, asking that all users refrain from political discussion on the Orchard, and for Dan, I will also add, no matter who started it.

Additionally, I will mention that I'd be willing to re-open the forums on my personal site for free-for-all discussions, if that would help to end it here. Let me know.

Rainy days, too (though they're not so pleasant to walk in).

Some of my favorite things:

1. People with very, very predictable response buttons.
2. When a bit of risky self-exposure to Drew actually leads to a nicer environment for my fellow oranges.
3. When the divine inspiration thread is ultimately de-politicized, maybe, as a result of fav. thing #2.
4. When I can stop having to look up random things to say about politicians I care nothing about, in a non-political forum, just in order to bring something annoying to a head.

Um, this ain't a political post, btw. Just sayin.' sleep.gif

it's not the divine inspiration thread. it's the typo'd one. and if you had read it and paid attention you would realize that it wasn't all political anyhow.

Bunches of hugs from my kids! Playing with the garden hose in the summer.
Having your dog warm your side of the bed! Only wish he shed less. I also like a nice
cup of tea with a good book 5 am on my porch in fall. The sound of fresh crunchy snow. A breeze on your face.
