Someone sent this to me in an email. I it caused a pyschedelic relapse. I'm sure I saw this in a mirror sometime around 1970. Pretty certain it was at the marina on Bull Frog Basin at Lake Powell after a week of wandering around the desert eating peyote. Socially speaking, I'm glad that sort of activity went out of style.

Rainbow Bridge (pre Lake Powell) web photo

Trudes... I remember the year and the controversy when the lake reached Rainbow Bridge.

Even farther back, just before they filled the lake, before the canyon was destroyed, when I was a very small boy, my father used to take me into Glenn Canyon. My earliest memory of the wilderness was watching the panorama floating past my face through the windscreen of dad's old Stinson Voyager, flying through the canyon, chasing the river.

starting to cry again... damn.

I am not sure, but I think I last found them at sweetnostalgia.com. They are imported from Switzerland, I think. When I was a child my dad used them when he had been using his voice a lot or was feeling dry or hoarse in the throat. They are not cheap, but they really do soothe my throat when I get a little hoarse. A Google search is how I found them when I was remembering my childhood.

<corny dad alert>

going to lunch and a little shopping with my home-for-a-week daughter who knows so well how to manipulate the father from whom she has gained so many inherited traits and passions. How many dads get to discuss theology with a daughter over Chik-Fil-A?

I know. That's almost as sickening as drinking syrup from the bottle, but I warned you.

Don't knock the theology, jane. She really intends to use it to prod Christians to get out into the world. Her bachelor's degree is in social work, and she intends on seeing social ministry done. She's like a smaller, kinder, less cynical, better looking, version of me in a skirt. It is both endearing and irritating, flattering and challenging.

Oh, and to stay on topic, discussing theology with my daughter is one of my favorite things
silentjane
oh, sorry. i knock theology whenever and wherever i can. in fact, that's one of my favorite things (to keep it all on topic)

oh hey lookit that, prodding christians to get out into the world is another one of my favorite pasttimes. wink.gifsmile.gif

Finally getting a PUR water filtration adapter thing. I've been buying bottled water for years due to incredibly old and funky galvanized piping on the whole property. Oh! So that's two things to be happy about.

All water on the property coming in through new copper pipe and finally getting a PUR after that! No more buying bottled water!! Yee haw!

Swinging on a swing-set so high today that the chain would do that loop/loose thing it did. Scary as a kid.

Sitting on my patio with some nice tunes (Sigur-Ros), drinking an orange martini, playing Monopoly on the computer. I DO have a life, just was feeling the lay-low tonight.
