Sorry for so many images, but I stumbled upon this bit of roadside beauty this evening and couldn't stop shooting. The opportuny this bunch of 'weeds' had to offer was incredibly sweet. I hope you enjoy them.

nice stuff cher. i esp like 4 & 5 and that's a cool shadow effect you got on the inside of the hearts on the first one. very nice.

Thanks, Bill! BTW, how's it going with the Jeff Bird project? Congrats!! Heard anything more?

i sent him a high res copy of his request and he asked how i would lke the credit to read.

he didn't seem to want to share what the project is, so i didn't push. he said he'd "keep me posted."

so, we'll see...

i am curious tho.

Some recent "weed" photos that I played around with in Picnik and came up with this:

Nature

Roadside Beauty

Mint

I'm thinking about making them into notecards.

Here in Vincennes, we obviously believe in good ol' home cookin' even when it comes down to how we like our pizzas!

Add some lemonade and/or SWEET tea to that .... and we're really good to go:

If this looks familiar, that's because the original, "Alley Songs - Heartache" has been posted here before. Anyway, I decided to play around a bit with it in Picnik, and this is what I came up with:

As usual, we watched the fireworks from the roof one of the res halls that I manage. It was a cool evening with heavy cloud cover. Thankfully the ceiling lifted enough to have the show tonight. It was cool and breezy (sweatshirt weather) and bugs were at the minimum. So, it was a good night for viewing and trying out the DSLR. Took LOTS of photos and kept a few. Here are some of the better ones:

I finally got over to this small community (Lake Lawrence, IL). It is a man-made lake out in the middle of nothing but corn, wheat and bean fields. For years, it was summer cabins of the elite, and then they began buying them and converting them for year-round living. Some families have lived there for 20+ years. Lately, the lake had filled in and the houses began looking shabby. Then came the flood and here's what's left of quite a few of them:

EXIF data the same for all:

Camera: Olympus E-500
Exposure: 0.002 sec (1/500)
Aperture: f/4.9
Focal Length: 34 mm
ISO Speed: 100
Exposure Bias: 0/10 EV
Flash: Flash did not fire, auto mode

I lovvvvvvvvvvve this!

then here are a few more. my parent's nighbors have acres and acres of sunflower fields, they sell them on the side of the road for $6 per dozen, self-serve, honor system...they have a little stand on the side of the road with several pairs of snips and a cigar box sitting on a counter. you go cut them, then put the money in the box. we cut some and when putting the money in, saw there must have been several hundred dollars in the box. it was pretty cool to see that work. restoring a little faith in humanity, one sunflower at a time...

i just wandered thru the fields for a couple of hours w/my camera, it was beautiful.

Just a reminder ... it's that time of the year once again ... county fair time. So, head out to or call your local extension offices to see whether or not there is an Open Class exhibit. Most county fairs offer them for those of us too old for 4-H, and it's a good way to enter some of your photography. It's also a great way to meet other area photographers and see how you compare. Most have a very minimal entry fee which funds the prize money. I usually donate any prize money I get back into 4-H and just keep the pretty ribbons! smile.gif

I guess this might be the best place to post about this camera I just ordered off Ebay, so here goes.

I just ordered this one:

4 LENS LOMO LOMOGRAPHY ACTION SAMPLER CAMERA 35mm new. So, what's the fun of this one you may be thinking. According to the Lomo shop (website) this little beauty is the one and only incredible four-lens-photo-photo-photo-photo ActionSampler and with one shot you get a series of four images on one print. How much fun can it be?

And, it even comes with a wrist strap!! smile.gif I can't wait to get it and get out there and play. Sure it's a film camera, but I think I will have tons of fun with it!
