Well, Cher...yes and yes. My camera is digital
AND an SLR. I had a normal digital camera for a while, but I love photography enough that I finally decided to drop the $1,400 or so for a good used digital SLR and some lenses. It was the best $1,400 I have ever spent.
The house is just outside a town named Sparta; it is a little over an hour southeast of St. Louis.
How much do I photoshop my images? It depends on how well the camera captured the picture I saw in my mind when I shot the frame. Out of the ones I posted here, the only ones that were moderately adjusted were the one of the flower (background colors were dulled) and the one of the house (the sky was not
quite as blue when I shot it). All the others posted were basically just sharpened a bit (all digital photos usually need sharpening even with very good lenses)
Some people hate the idea that photos are retouched at all and say they almost feel 'cheated' when they learn that. They will say that if the photo is not 'just the way it was' then it is fake and not worth even really looking at. Well, i strongly disagree...all art takes crafting to lead it upwards. Honestly, a few of my favorite photos of mine that were bound for the delete bin until I dropped them into Photoshop and just started messing around with them. I do love it when I can take a photo that needs no adjustment at all, but they usually always require a tweak or two to get them looking as good as they can. People before just did the tweaks in a darkroom; now we do our tweaks in the digital darkroom
Here is one photo that I loved but because of one obvious problem, would not have been usable. Well, 1 hour of time and major photo 'reconstruction' later, the photo is quite usable (and was actually in an art gallery over the past summer).
Funny thing about this photo is that I had spent 20 minutes the day before shooting all sorts of photos of this door and got some really great shots. We were driving by a few days later (as we would drive by it several times each day), I saw the woman standing there and shot 2 frames as we were driving by. We were still moving at 30mph when I shot this...hehe. This one was by far my favorite over all the ones I took the day before. You never know what photo you take is going to end up being the one you love...

I think I answered your questions and then some...
