I don't know whether or not to make a new thread, but I spent last week in Central California celebrating 25 years of blissful marriage.
marty, you said 25 "blissful" years of marriage but, you forgot to tell us how many years you actually been married tho...
many congrats.
Many thanks for the congrats and the concert pics!
I'm finding myself less interested these days in sitting in smokey bars or large outdoor venues. I still love live music, but I'm being more chosey these days. My wife and I are very interested in hearing OTR this year. She is really becoming a big fan. Since she's not as interested in music as I am, this is literally music to my ears! We would like to find a cool place to make a road trip to see them play. We considered it for our anniversary, but chose California instead.
I highly recommend this trip for people wanting to get away for a while. Fly into Monterey, drive down the coast stay at one or two or three of the small towns on the coast. As you can see from the pictures, there's a lot of cool things to do. Although, you should know that even though it is possible to go cheap, sleep in tents in Big Sur or on one of the beaches, at my age, I want at least an air mattress these days... Since it was our 25th, we didn't really spare any expenses. For instance, Nepenthe overlooks the ocean. You pay for the view...a burger is something like $15 and a basket of fries $7. And to make it worse, the birds will steal your fries if your not careful! However, there are plenty of options to sleep cheap and see the incredible wildlife this area has to offer. We saw 15 humpback whales, hundreds of sea lions and seals, dozens of sea otters, countless birds and ground squirrels and two deer on the side of the freeway and an 8-point buck climbing a hill. And then there are mountains, cliffs, an ocean..., giant redwoods, beaches...generally speaking a lot of stuff we don't have here in Misery. Granted, they don't have Cadidids singing in the night, but the waves are pretty nice...
