How very haunting and sad.
I wonder what the circumstances were...the dates of death were so close.
Was there a grave stone for R.A. Thomas?
Your discovering these graves was an invitation to write the story, Cher.
Where are the graves?

Wow, Cher. Of all graveyard pictures I have seen or taken, those stand out. It makes you wonder about katie and her baby, and her poor husband.

Thanks for looking and commenting, guys. I have yet to get Katie and her baby off my mind. I have begun writing about them and hope to write more this weekend. The graves are in Evansville, IN, and I hope to make another trip down there soon in order to check on the husband's stone which, I think, is the large one next to Katie's stone. I was so blown away by these 2 that I didn't think to look for his. There truly is a story here.

What's really interesting to me is that mom died shortly after giving birth. Then the baby died a few months later. Very strange. Also (file in the really weird section), I recently wrote a song called That Water Came. In it, I have a mother and baby who die in a a flood (cheery, I know). I wrote the mother's name as Mary, but have recently been singing it as Katie (my #3 is Mary and it's just too weird for me to sing that way).
Weird.
Looking forward to hearing more about this Cher.

You know, Kent, I really like this one. We're just getting rain, possibly severe thunderstorms/tornados later this afternoon. We haven't had any snow this winter, and I'd really love to see some.
Thanks for sharing!

If you look toward the upper left corner of this one, you can just make out a lone bird. If I'd been a been quicker, I could have caught the flock as they crossed over the moon!

No eclipse visible here today. Too much cloud cover.

I get my best results using the manual settings on the camera. Automatic almost always overexposes the full moon with my camera.
