Hello all,
This is my first attempt at starting a vine here, so please excuse any breaches in protocol.
I have put on 2 dvd discs (stand alone, no chapters), the full shows of Over The Rhine and Hem's sets from the mighty Grey Eagle in Asheville, NC on 06/06/06. And you thought that was a bad day.
OTR's set runs close to 90 min, and Hem's is about 67 min. Both were shot from the audience with Hi-8 camcorder. Very clear pic and sound. The only drawback is some occasionally shakiness when the camera was being adjusted. But fairly un-obstructed for an audience recording. So first person to post and e-mail me starts the vine I believe. And by all means include your reviews once you've watched this.

Hi Allan,

Welcome to the orchard! I think it's very generous that you're offering this, but Hem's taping policy does not authorize video recording of their shows, so until we can get an OK from someone in the band, I don't think it's a good idea for their portion of the video to be distributed here. They might be fine with it in this particular case, I will attempt to talk to Dan Messé or someone else in the band about it this Wednesday or Thursday after their upcoming shows.

based on this info and after receiving an e-mail from allan, at his request (and i agree), unless i hear otherwise from keith after he attempts to discuss this with the band, i will not be passing on the the hem portion of this vine.

Hey, y'all.

I received the OTR and HEM DVD's in the mail yesterday, but (for the life of me), I can't make a copy of the OTR DVD (I haven't even tried the HEM one yet).

With Nero Express, I get a "Reading disc failed" error message.

Any suggestions...?

I burn and copy stuff all the time, so I'm not sure what the problem is. It won't even allow me to rip it onto my hard drive.

Any help is appreciated.

By the way, I can watch it, no problem.

Sorry for the problem, but if you haven't already, please pass these on to the next person on the list. If they have the same issue, it's probably a scratched disc and we'll try to reseed it. If they don't, ask someone up the list if they'd be willing to do a B&P for you.

I had the same problem. My desktop kept choking on one of the VOB files. I found that my laptop dvd drive was able to read all the files on the OTR disc just fine so I copied the one troublesome file to the laptop and transferred that file to my desktop so I could burn the disc. The disc didn't have many scratches on it, so I don't know what the problem was.
