So, I make a day trip to Nashville on Sunday to attend the high school graduation of a cousin's son. They actually live in Brentwood, and since we left early enough there was enough time to head down town to the District and DeBroeun to snap a few photos. The District is what you would consider "main street" in any other small town, and that's what it really feels like as you stroll the streets. Sure the new megaliths rear up behind, but if you concentrate hard enough you can honestly believe it's the Nashville of old that Hank Sr., Johnny, Merle and others before them knew. I swear the next time I'm in Nashville that I'm gonna hit The Distric at night so as to photograph all the cool neon signage that abounds up and down both sides of the street!

A bit of history about the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Every time I'm in Nashville, I always try to make it to the museum. I could easily spend all day in there even though I've been several times. This time, I wasn't able to stop in, but I'm hoping to get back before the Ray Charles exhibit moves on. Anyway, if you look at the building there are many cool things about the outside of the structure itself (the inside is just as cool). The first thing you'll notice is the keyboard above the entrance. Then, if you look at the circular, tower-like part on the left, you'll notice the limestone encircling the top. It represents a musical staff with the limestone pieces representing the notes to "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" made famous, of course, by the Carter Family. It's said if you fly over the building and look down upon it that it is shaped like a treble cleff. I'm going to see if there's an observation area in the Bell South building sometime soon and see if I can photograph the museum from there.

Enjoy!

great shots, cher !

the antenna on the left is a replica of the old 650 am tower (the station that broadcasts the grand ole opry), and the angle on the upper right-hand corner is the same as the fin of a '57 chevy. i know there's a few other cool things about the building itself but they're slipping my mind at the moment. i've yet to visit this new h.o.f., but hope to make sometime this summer before the ray exhibit is gone.

How cool that you posted the photo of this radio/cell phone? tower! It's on the way to my cousin's house, and we passed it several times yesterday on the way to and from the graduation ceremony. And thanks for the additional info. Some I had forgotten and some was new.
