Hi everyone....my name's Steve. I'm a 25 year old fan from Terre Haute, Indiana (although I am moving to Saginaw Michigan come next May to be closer to my girlfriend and to finish up my bachelors degree) who stumbled across the Orchard while looking around the OTR website. As far as how I occupy my time, I'm a college student and I work part time at a radio station and a funeral home, and I'm also a volunteer firefighter/EMT. When I have free time I like to write songs and poetry (not sure how good my songs and poetry are), and I'm trained as a classical violinist and I'm trying to learn to play guitar and piano. If there is anything else you all would like to know, just ask.

Yeah, I eat at the Saratoga all the time. Good food....although their prime rib sandwich blows the tenderloin out of the water. No competition. wink.gif

Hi Steve. There are a few of us Michaganders around here. Just keep your eyes open and you'll find us. I'm between The Big Dirty (Detroit) and Ann Arbor myself. Saginaw is not that far. Looking forward to you coming down to the Ark in AA for a show.

So how do you feel about about Beethoven's late quartets?

Personally, I'm more of a fan of Mozart, Vivaldi, Bach and Wagner, but some of Beethoven's stuff can be interesting to play. I don't really get into the analyzing classical music like some people do, I just have the pieces I enjoy playing and I am always looking for "new" things to try out. Unfortunately I haven't had much of a chance to play over the past several years so I am afraid that I am quite out of practice. It's not like riding a bike laugh.gif

this is so true! picking a violin back up after years of neglect is nothing like riding a bike. your fingers get lazy smile.gif

do you play other styles, or only classical?

I can play other styles (or at least I used to be able to)....I've played a few times with a couple local country bands (nothing to major, just one or two songs per night).....oh, and to answer the question I always get asked, yes I could play "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". laugh.gif laugh.gif
