A new song I'm working on... you can probably figure out the inspiration for this one, but it's not just about anything going on in my experience right now. I'm hoping that it's general enough so that anyone can take meaning from it.... mp3 to come soon.
Thanks,
J
p.s. it was raining to beat the band here last night...

Stop the Rain

VERSE
Baby cryin' on the floor
Ain't nothin' easy anymore
Bank man said it's all come due
Lord he's comin to the door

Fifteen years not one's been kind
So much weighin' on my mind

PRE-CHORUS
What we need
What we need
Is some sort of a miracle

What we need
What we need
Is nothin' short of miracle

CHORUS
Is there something I can do
Some way to explain
Make me believe again

Is there somewhere I can go
To ease the strain
Some way to stop this rain
Stop the rain

VERSE
Old man came in with the news
He said a month or maybe two
I took her hand and held it tight
Said there's nothing they can do

Sixty years not one's been kind
So much weighin' on my mind

PRE-CHORUS
What we need
What we need
Is some sort of a miracle

What we need
What we need
Is nothin' short of miracle

CHORUS
Is there something I can do
Some way to explain
Make me believe again

Is there somewhere I can go
To ease the strain
Some way to stop this rain

OUTTRO FADE OUT
Stop the rain
Some way to give again
Stop the rain
Some way to love again
Stop the rain
Some way to live again

this is beautiful! well written, and (as per your hopes) very identifiable and real in other's experiences.
lookin' forward to the mp3!

Little *bump* for this one. I've been playing it a lot lately. Just about done now. I think I'll record a rough track of it later this week. So.... mp3 should be up shortly.
Thanks,
J

The lyrics flow well and I think that they appeal to the universal hard steady rain of difficult experiences that leave individuals aching.

Looking forward to hearing the MP3.

Thanks again for posting your art.

Aww... thanks Carolyn. I still play this one nearly every day (twice just a few minutes ago, actually). I'm pleased to say that I don't play it for the same reasons I wrote it. I think the healing has begun.
Thanks again,
J

I tried to open the link and it wouldn't open for me. Is it still up?
captsomer
Oh, nevermind. There it goes. I got it now.

Very nice John. I like it. I'm always impressed by folks that can write lyrics and then match them up with great music to make a nice sounding song..........I know, I've tried.

Thanks,
GhostWriter
Thanks Steph, Dawn and Shawn. Maybe one of these days I'll take all these songs into a real studio...
