Seoul, S. Korea May 04 : South Korean bee farmer Ahn Sang-Kyu protests Japan's claim of sovereignty over disputed islets May 4, 2006 in Seoul, South Korea. Ahn, a local bee farmer, released over 140,000 bees and attracted them to his body to protest Japan's sovereignty claims over a tiny group of islands located off the east coast of South Korea, called the Dokdo islets by the Koreans and Takeshima by the Japanese.

Ouch Ouch Ouch Ouch. I tried to copy the picture but was unsuccessful. Here's where I found it: http://www.shocku.com/111/

As someone who was once attacked by a swarming hive of yellow jackets, I have to say that BEES ARE EVIL EVIL CREATURES!!!! OK, ok, I did accidentally destroy thier hive, but geez! It was an accident! Did ya have to send me to the ER?
Actually, are yellow jackets considered bees?

Yellow jackets are definitely included in the concept "bees must die!" They are specifically excluded from the notion that "bees are good and pollinate flowers and crops and stuff and therefore should not die!"

I too was swarmed by yellow jackets - at the tender age of six - and I tend to hold a grudge. angry.gif

*shiver* Bees scare me. I have had the ultimate bee encounter though: Killer or "africanized" bees. Got stung three times. Arm swelled up to pop-eye size. Had to light a bonfire between them and me to get away. Horrid.

I figured out how to post the pic, finally:

You know what's weird? After I posted this on Sunday there was a whole swarm of bees in my front yard! We called a beekeeper and they came over and cut off the branch where the hive was and put it in a box (without wearing any protection... and it was like a 5'4" redheaded woman... the cohones on that lady...) until the night when I guess they all went in the box to keep warm and then she picked them up and took them away. Very cool...

That Shock Magazine apparently also has the unedited South Park pic of Cartman as Muhammed, but I can't find it, all I see are some crappy videos.

I looked like the elephant man when I had my little run in. This is no joke or exaggeration.

I know Asian Paper Wasps aren't Bees but trust me they must all be somewhere else, not here! I don't really want anything or anybody to die. I don't think I qualify as having the right. But Asian Paper Wasps are evil.....and they can sting as many times as they want!!! Rude!!!

That's all.

Ok, ok, so maybe I did stretch the truth a little bit. My face was not QUITE that bad. It was pretty puffy though. Maybe about half that size. Made it a devil to try to breath!

I believe you, when I got stung by "africanized" bees my arm swelled up like popeye. I was seriously worried my skin would split.

Ok, so, rather be covered in bees?

Well, at least bees are getting some attention. Keeping honeybees ain't as easy as one would think, and the number of people keeping them is declining. My son is going to raise his own honeybees to pollenate the plot of land that he's leasing at an organic garden plot for the summer....next comes the organic honey.

Bees can "bee" pretty cool, too. Honey bees have a pretty tough time in the wild these days.

Yeah while I say that I hate bees, I honestly have no problem with honey bees (unless they go kamikaze, lol). I will actually pet bumblebees. they're so soft and fuzzy, I almost feel like I have to. And they never seem to bother me when I do. so yeah, non aggressive bees are ok.
