Those waters would be the Mississippi and the Pacific. There don't seem to be many of us between those two bodies of water who have even heard of OTR. About six years ago I was introduced by a friend while attending Chadron State College (2,500 students, WESTERN Nebraska). I actually really got into OTR by reading the lyrics on their Web site. I'd print them off so I could read them anywhere. It's amazing how different their songs were than I expected them to be, based on the lyrics. It was a pleasant surprise. I bought Good Dog Bad Dog and loved it. I haven't acquired the complete collection (am I still allowed to be here?), but Eve is another favorite.
I have yet to see OTR live, though I came really close last fall in Columbus (my husband is from southern Ohio). We went to the Buckeye-Northwestern game and decided we'd left our two kids (3 and 18 months now) too long with his mother and sister, so didn't get to the OTR show. I, at least, would have MUCH rather gone to OTR. It wasn't even a good game. I can at least say I was in the same city with them once. For some reason they don't seem to play Pier 347 in Pierre, South Dakota much.

welcome windsong. glad you found this little place.
i think you'll find there are a few more fans west of the mississippi than you may think. but, as far as the south dakota thing, yeah, you may be the only one.

huh, i wonder how many states we have represented here...

Hi Windsong,
We are almost neighbors...I live in Boulder, CO.
Yes, sadly OTR doesn't make it to these parts very often.
The only times I have seen them live is on their turf, although they did perform here when they toured with the Cowboy Junkies several years ago.
I also love the lyrics to their songs and read them like poetry.
Browse through Linford's writings on their website too, if you get a chance...it's so wonderful and personal...like he's known you for years and you're chatting on a picnic blanket.
Welcome.
