OK, here's the story. Here in Cincinnati we had a GREAT bar called The Barrel House. They brewed their own beer, had alot of great live music, and maybe above all.... they had the best Muffalettas ever! But alas, they closed last year and I have yet to find a place that can satisfy my Muffaletta craving. I was doing OK until I read that "4 Things" thread that Keith started. Someone said "Muffaletta" and it was all downhill from there. (I haven't had dinner yet.) I'm dying here!

Anyway, do any of you guys know where to find a GOOD Muffaletta around the Cincinnati area? If not, I'll settle for a good recipie. I'm a good cook, I can pull it off.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

I can't believe there were actually good muffalettas in Cinti, I can't even find one in NYC!

I've used the recipe referenced in this thread to make my own. It's quite good IMO, if not quite like the genuine article from the Central Grocery. It's crucial to get good, fresh, crusty-but-not-too-thick bread too.

Good luck!

Thanks Keith. I know just where to find the bread. There's a great bakery downtown. I'll get to the grocery tomorrow. I'll let you know how it turns out.

most good grocery stores would have one... like Wild Oats or Jungle Jim's or the Party Source... Wild Oats would be fresher (made while you wait)... I love muffaletta... at least the olive part of them... I used to get them all the time when I was working at Dorothy Lane Market (best grocery store ever... until I found Jungle Jim's).

Oh man, I thought you said goetta muffaletta.

I don't even know what a muffaletta is, but a goetta one sounds great.

Now I'm all bummed.

Well, I went shopping over the weekend. I put the fixins together last night and I can now say that my Muffaletta craving is now satisfied! I ate til I was about to pop. Very nice dinner. I even have leftovers for lunch for about two or three people. smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

Thanks Keith!!! I owe you one.

Hey all,

I found some olive stuff that comes in a jar. It's made by Tassos and it is called "Bruschetta Classico" It tastes great and it makes making a Muffaletta very easy.

Somer ... if you're near a Country Fresh Produce (one on 8-Mile & Beechmont, one on Vine Street just North of Compton, I think) sells Muffaletta spread. It's the real deal McNeil.
