Hello all-
My name is Kent Mitchell from Hudson, Wisconsin- just across the beautiful St. Croix river from the Twin Cities. We moved to here from there a couple of years ago, so I still consider myself a Minnesotan amongst the Curd Herders. I came across Over the Rhine when I saw their album Ohio was #2 for the year in Paste magazine, got it, and fell in love with it. Since then I've pretty much gotten their entire catalog of music.
Anyway, OtR played in the Twin Cities in early December, so I got to see them for the first time- and it was truly a magical evening of music. I was totally blown away by them live. After that I discovered the Orchard and somehow or other seem to log into here quite a bit- like every day now! I'm not a big poster, but will throw in my 2 cents worth once in a while. I've found the Vines and am already using that and will be hanging out in the music section quite a bit. My music tastes are on the Indie side, don't like the mainstream-I like music along the lines of Low, Luna, Mojave 3, the Cowboy Junkies, Mazzy Star, Hem, but will step out into other realms like Sigur Ros and Boards of Canada and whatever else tweaks my ears. My other love is gardening- just growing wildflowers. My yard is masses of native prairie wildflowers, so here in the cold climes I always have something blooming from spring to fall. Its great therapy after a hard days work- to enjoy nature. Well, thats the condensed version of me- work, music and gardening- nothing wrong with that except the work part. One more thing thats kind of interesting- I live at the corner of Orchard Drive and Apple Pine Circle. So maybe that means I'm supposed to be here.
