A: I don't know if it was the worst, but it's probably had the biggest effect on me. When I was about 5 years old my parents took in a foster child. I guess I was jealous of the attention they gave him, so after he did bite my hand once, I told my mom he did it again at a later time. I've felt terribly guilty about that ever since.

A: It's more of a mood/state of mind than an enviroment for me. I need to be free of distractions and motivated.

A: "There was too much left unsaid. Too much left undone."

A: Well I thought about answering "Chess Fundamentals" by Jose Raul Capablanca or "What Is Called Thinking?" by Martin Heidegger or the "Blessed Hope" by George Eldon Ladd, but the simple truth is that the Bible has had the most significant impact on my life. The others certainly had a hand in shaping my life, but not nearly as significantly as the Bible.

A: book: The Bible. Can I bring along my TDNT as well? cd: Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon. dvd: Building A Boat for Dummies or TDNT on DVD...

A: I only shoot blanks.

A: My office as it is, however instead of being placed in Springfield, Misery, 100% of the time, I would like it to have transporter functionality. In other words, today I coud choose to be looking out on the Rocky Mountains, tomorrow the Pacific Ocean, etc. Another nice edition would be another Star Trek thing that you walk up to and speak whatever food it is you want and it instantly materializes...

A: It's a long road and a little wheel and it takes a lot of turns to get there (Charlie Daniels), hope to see you when we get there!

Zayne's A: Jesus Christ…would love to know His thoughts on the current church. [I just had about a three hour conversation about a very similar topic...]

Q: What one book has had the most significant impact on your life?
A: This isn't a fair question. I'd like to say the Bible, but as a book in itself, it hasn't impacted my life all that much. The ideas and doctrine in that book have become my life, but I've barely read any of it. So I'd have to go with C.S. Lewis - The Great Divorce. We are all pilgrims of the great divorce.

A: Book - The Spiritual Man by Watchman Nee. I haven't read it, but this is why I'd want it with me.
CD - Pedro the Lion [It's Hard to Find a Friend]. This album tops as my all-time favorite. I don't know if I could handle never hearing it again if I never get off the silly island. DVD - Waking Life, by Richard Linklater. I could watch Bob Sabiston's animation forever.

A: A transient one. Maybe just as simple as a car, where I can get out with a journal and a pen, sit in the hood, and just write.

A: Wow, that's a question I've never thought about. I think I'd be happy with just a simple word: Redemption.

Q: Who is the one person living or dead that you would like to have dinner with?
A: I'm with Darryl in saying Soren Kierkegaard. He has some powerful prayers that strike deep within. I want to know more about them.

Q: If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
A: Control of time. I've always liked the idea of pausing everything.

A: I wish I had a more insightful answer, but the Bible is the only book that I've 'read' that has impacted my actions & beliefs.

A: Book - how about a magazine? Cosmo. CD - Harsh question! Right now, my cd of choice is "Drunkard's Prayer" has been on continuouse repeat on my iPod. DVD - "Patriot" with Mel Gibson & Heath Ledger. Cute Boys & a great story.

A: Seems pretty unimportant to me. People will remember me in different ways, so I don't think it matters what some epitaph says (not meaning to trivialize those who answer this, btw).

A: Dad [1934-1984] (incidentally, a job interview asked me this very question many years ago, only they said I could dine with three. I only picked two: Jesus Christ and my dad... and I didn't get the job unsure.gif )

A: i would take along a book of poetry i think, so there'd be a lot to think about and dissect (but don't ask me which one); good dog bad dog; and magnolia. can i just point out the absurdity of having the means to play these things while on a deserted island? i'm thinking of the family in the poisonwood bible, bringing along the comforts of home from the american south to africa...

The ability to heal from nearly any injury, and sharp claws that pop out of my hands. i'm sure they're really useful. my metabolism would probably be a lot better that way too.

Not sure. One of the ones that stuck the most with me was Thomas Harris' "Red Dragon" - so good, I refuse to see the film.

Book: Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everything. I get lost reading that book all the time - so much to ponder and wonder.
No CD or DVD for me thanks. For one, I would be frustrated with nothing to play them on (did the word "stranded" escape the rest of you?). Second, no matter what I had with me I would get sick of it real quick.

A: A comfy studio, with a full-time engineer to make all the equipment work so I could just focus on playing and creating...when I write I spend about 20% of the time actually writing and 80% playing with keyboard or guitar sounds or trying to get new software to work.

A: i choose _roll of thunder, hear my cry_ by mildred taylor. one day in the fifth grade we were read the first chapter of that book when my teacher was out sick, and it was the first time i had ever heard the "n" word. i didn't know what it meant, and everyone made fun of me, and i promised myself that i would NEVER treat anyone that way -- either by using derogatory names or by looking down on someone for not knowing what something was. it helped me to realize that i really wanted to be a good person.
