I was wondering who has a preference - tea or coffee? Seems like OtR fans would be tea drinkers (I am), but they definitely have a coffee side to their music.

Darjeeling for me, although I like a lot of black & green teas.
[jp/p]
Tea, tea, tea.

Stash, StAsH, STASH.

Wild raspberry, Chamomile, Dragonwell, Earl Grey, et al.

Coffee. Good coffee. Starting feeling the buzz for coffee when I was 26. I used to drink a lot of flavored coffees but the last couple of years I've found myself prefering my beans un-tainted (although, there are those couple flavors that are quite scrumpdilyicious). I've also bought my coffee for home from the same Ma&Pa local roasters for 4+ years.

Tea I like after dinner at Asian restaurants. This one place has a delicious brown rice/green tea mix.
frannyglass
Good, strong coffee in the mornings, and tea at night (when it's chilly).
And perhaps a Diet Cherry Coke in the afternoon, when the mood strikes. For a while I was trying to cut back on caffeine, but . . . who am I kidding. If I could, I would marry coffee. Giving it up is not an option.

[jp/p], I like Stash too! Trader Joe's sells it real cheap.
Aaron
Both. I ,love a good latte, but I alo like chai just as much. I think on average I drink more tea than coffee, but that changes from day to day. Depends on my mood I guess.
keith from ny
coffee (strong), cappucino, iced latté ... man do I love iced latté on a hot day! cool.gif

And yes, tea after dinner at Asian restaurants. They actually know how to make it, and I don't.
digitalpentad
Coffee in the morning. Iced tea, SWEET tea in the South, and maybe hot tea in the evening.

Coffee: the thicker and darker the better. I usually prefer 6 shots decaf espresso over ice. I drink it for the taste, really. I am hyper enough as it is. I do like, on occasion, in iced soy chai. Those are pretty dang good, too.
I LOVE Starbuck's! Of course, that is the only coffee shop around here, unless you count Waffle House.
downwithdeadeye
COFFEE. period. as my sister once said, i want morning coffee that's strong enough to bite me.
frannyglass--i too once had delusions of "giving up" coffe, caffeine, etc; i told my mom about my decision on the phone & she actually laughed at me and told me i was prenatally addicted.
so my decision on this was apparently made before i was born...

I don't particularly like tea, but I've learned to tolerate it. My editing client, among others, would feel rejected if she couldn't offer me some sort of hot beverage. It's easier to just give in and drink up, rather than obstinately cling to my water bottle. Coffee, however, is vile to my tongue. I refer to it as reheated puddle sludge.
Lynne
Soda (preferably Coke or Pepsi).

Or, as I called it when I was growing up: Pop.
d.
i only drank tea (usually earl grey with cream) til this year cause i hate coffee. then, i was talked into trying espresso.....

my tea cups have never looked the same.

When I was eleven years old my Grandmother sat me down at her little table and pulled out the beautiful, danty, rose-decorated cups and saucer that I had always begged her to let me use. She put on a pot of coffee and we talked about school and stuff until it was done brewing.

My Grandmother was the owner of several little corner diner's in downtown Louisville, Embry's Diner and such. She had years of experience in the fine art of diner management. Ever notice how uniform diner coffee is? She could cook the meanest, yummiest breakfast in the land, if you ask me. I still miss her chicken and dumplin's, and no one in the family has ever learned how to make them just right.

Anyway, the coffee done brewing, she poured us each a cup and talked me through the "dress up," as she called it--plenty of cream and sugar. I remember it tasted better than candy...so sweet and creamy. I was hooked, I'm still hooked--on diner coffe. No Starbucks for me, thanks (Though I do like a good latte from time to time).

I have always treasured that memory of my Grandmother. She was a cool old bird. Miss her...

I'm fond of a good cup of coffee, but my preference is usually for tea because a) it's harder to mess up and cool.gif it's more accessible in places like, say, a dorm room. I'm terribly partial to Lady Grey at the moment, with milk and sugar, though I also have a certain weakness for vanilla tea and Earl Grey. I am perfectly willing to down a cup of English Breakfast, provided it's made well, and I like chamomile and peppermint as caffeine-free alternatives.

I had a lovely tea the other day at a local coffee/video store. It was called "World Peace," or something like, and was made from peppermint, clove, and something else (cinnamon maybe?). Highly recommended, if any of you come across it.

Black coffee first thing in the morning, but the rest of the day I drink fruit teas - my favourite at the moment is Blackcurrant, Ginseng & Vanilla.

I was once given a packet of apple & peach fruit tea which resembled (and smelt like) pot pourri - it was the best I've ever tasted. Another time I was given some detoxification tea - I looked at the ingredients, and spotting turmeric and other spices, I thought "it's curry tea!" When I made myself a cup, sure enough it was, but with a strong liqourice aftertaste!

'World Peace' sounds yummy. The cimmanon especially. How would you compare/contrast Lady Grey to Earl Grey? Haven't had the former.

frannyglass:
Funny you mention Trader Joe's. Someone told me recently, all to my delight, that they knew of a place that sells Stash. Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, I was disapointed to learn that Trader Joe's is nowhere near my home. Some four or five hours away, at least.

Anyway, that's what I get for moving from Seattle, Washington to Boondocks, Kentucky. At least I had a good reason.

(NOTE: I'm really not a big fan of {or a very good keeper-upper-with} this particular kind of message board arrangement, so feel free to Private Message or E-mail. No idea if the E-mail feature works, though. Jury still seems to be out on that one.)

Tea or coffee?
That's it....?

I drink a lot of tea, but I'll take a fancy coffee-beverage in the right context. I especially enjoy a nice amaretto mocha.

huh.gif You're hardcore, Bill.

Not much of a soda fan here, sometimes I'll drink one w/ mexican or pizza, but even then that's when there is no beer anywhere nearby.
WalrusOct9
Tea...or two cokes slammed back to back when I get to work. It's essential to my survival.

Is it bad when you get a headache if you haven't had any caffine that day?
Jeanne
I can relate to Bill. I used to bring a can of Coke to work every morning for breakfast. I have since switched over to water in the mornings.

I like Cherry Coke a lot.

I'm also a tea drinker. I haven't met a tea I haven't liked, except when it's extremely strong or very old. I drink my iced tea straight, and my hot tea with sugar.
michelle

I wasn't even thinking *iced* tea. Which I love and also drink straight. Sugar ruins it for me.

As for the Coke's in the morning thing. I realize I'm equal caffeine intake w/ my coffee, but it's the sugar part that gets me w/ soda. Too sweet. You guys are hardcore.
Aaron
A funny thing about the caffinated vs decaf argument. My dad, for years said "Drinking decaf is like kissing your sister. You can, but why?" Now, he's had some borderline health issues, so he drinks decaf, so I say that to him. He just looks at my mom, and says "but I do kiss my sister" (he means his sister in Christ).

OK, I will admit, I occasionally have a cup of coffee (with one packet of Equal and at least a third of the cup full of Coffee Mate) in the morning at work. First cup outta the pot, usually, 'cause I'm the first one there and I make the coffee and it's good.

And, sometimes, during the summer when I'm home visiting my parents, I will drink my mom's lightly sweetened iced tea. (She usually makes sun tea.)

: )

Absolutely no preferences on brands and what-not. Although I do have a favorite coffee cup at work: a white, chipped ceramic cup with ducks painted on each side.

AND if I happen to visit a Starbucks or a Gloria Jean's, I go for something like an iced mocha. I think of it more as a dessert, though, rather than a drink.

sugar with a splash of coffee. every morning.

Lady Grey is flavored with orange and lemon (rather than Earl Grey's bergamot), so it's a little smoother with less of a bite. Less assertive of its flavor, you might say, and therefore stereotyped as feminine. wink.gif Not that it bothers me; it's great tea!
christina
I like them both. I tend to drink them irregularly and only with my friends. I very rarely drink pop. Yes, that 's what I call it for you soda/coke people. I can't stand sweet tea. It practically makes me gag. Good thing for all of us, that we can always opt for water.
stormyandadrian
well, i'd have to say, i'm definately a coffee lover! i used to be a coffee shop barista, for heaven's sake! smile.gif I've given it up for my pregnancy though...what torture!
luckily, i'm big on tea, as well. smile.gif love it hot or iced, sweet or straight, creamy or black, decaf or regular, just so long as i'm gettin' some!(same goes for coffee, when i'm drinking it. yes, even espresso.)

addict? oh yes, indeed! cool.gif

may peace be with you, 'till we meet again,

Where's Jones Soda out of, Christina? I know I've never seen it here. Both those flavors sound really good.

The times I do drink soda I'l go for the Barq's or Dr. Pepper before Pepsi. And every now and then I'll stop by the health food store for a can of Blue Sky Jamaican Ginger Ale <- carbonated heaven.

Jones Soda is based out of Washington, although a lot of their stuff is actually manufactured across the border in Canada. I have one hell of a time finding it IN Canada though -- go figure. Michigan (especially Meijer gas stations) is Jones heaven. Lovelovelove that chain!

Fufu berry is tasty. Mmm... craving... time to hit up my supplier. wink.gif

I used to be a hard-core coffee drinker, but as I have been caffeine-free for 5 years now, I've switched to herbal teas. I still have the occassional decaf Americano from Grinders (we proudly serve Starbucks) on campus. However, I would say that my fave herbal tea is a blueberry one by Celestial Seasonings. It tastes like blueberry muffins warm from the oven!

summer rose green tea at night.

trader joe's is worth the drive.
