this is a quote she made in 1988, that i found at the end of the aol article about her passing...

At a celebration in her honor that same year, she said: "I am leaving this legacy to all of you ... to bring peace, justice, equality, love and a fulfillment of what our lives should be. Without vision, the people will perish, and without courage and inspiration, dreams will die - the dream of freedom and peace."

she was 92, and died in her home. what an amazing woman. *sigh*

QUOTE
"...and without courage and inspiration, dreams will die"

rosa park's simple act of defiance, simply standing up (or in her case, refusing to stand up) for what was right was an inspiration to millions and was a defining moment in this country's history. her simple, yet brave and important act influenced a movement, a people and a country. sadly, at times i wonder how far we have really come in the almost 50 years since her protest and realize far we have yet to go.

rest in peace ms. parks. you were a great lady. a hero.

Can't wait to see the right-wing idiots on local radio try and spin this one.

She's a hero of the highest order.

It's hard to grasp today how much courage it must have taken for Rosa Parks to do what she did on that bus and to agree to becoming a test case for challenging the segregation laws. A great lady indeed.

I was quite saddened to read of her passing. I agree with many of the sentiments of the rest of you. I have always considered my self lucky to have heard her speak. I was only in the third grade, and I didn't appreciate the opportunity then as much as I do now looking back.

Amazing woman.
